Used car leasing 2 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I freely admit to knowing very little about leasing and PCP etc., but the 'Flexidrive' rental on 1 year old cars do look quite attractive. Has anyone got experience of these rental schemes? I assume that the renter will have to pay for RFL and standard servicing - but what about repairs? Since the car will go out of warranty during a 3 year rental, who picks up the tab if the engine goes pop or the car needs a new DMF? -
Why does nobody look after their cars? 20 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Looking around for a new car lately, it occurred to me that, above 3 years old, hardly any cars have a full service record. How come this happens? Is the average car owner really this negligent? I'd have thought that putting a car in for service at least at the same time as the MOT is done would be a given, yet it seems not. -
End of Life Vehicles 15 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Under new European rules it seems that in future only licensed dismantlers will be permitted to scrap old cars. At the moment, anyone can scrap a car. I have sometimes aquired a car as a source of spares, kept it for a few years (on SORN) gradually removing bits, then finally taken off anything remaining of possible use, and got a scrap man to remove the carcass. -
Jaguar X-Type 2.0d 157k - Random thoughts on driving an old car - and 'trust 9 Apr 2016 (Forum)
I am very grateful for the advice I have received here from those who know far more about cars than I do. I run a 2004 x-type, 157k miles. I trust it to my local indy, always with the instruction 'do what do what needs doing, call me if the bill will be more than the car is worth'. -
VW MK5 - Hard to select gears? 27 Jun 2021 (Forum)
I have looked on top of the gearbox and the cable closest to the engine is very squeaky when going through the gears. I did try some WD40 on it but it didn't seem to do anything. The car is 12 years old but has only done 40k miles, anyone ever come across this before? -

I have a frustrating issue with my wife's Galaxy. When we bought the car at the beginning of the year the Auto Lock feature was activated. We have 3 kids with the youngest only 18 months old so Auto Lock is not good for the family. I eventually found the correct process for deactivating it. -

Audi A4 or Saab 93 (Aero) Convertible. - Which drop Top? 1 Jan 2016 (Forum)
Having retired on Christmas eve. l've spent the last few days considering which convertable to buy, as a secnd car; in the new year. It will be approximately a 10 year old. petrol vehicle & l've narrowed the options down to the Audi A4 1.8 or the 2 litre Saab 93 Aero. I know this sort of decision is mostly down to personal choice however, l would value any opinion, considerations or indeed things to watch out for. -
Law on Vehicle Excise Duty...Help 29 May 2015 (Forum)
I have contacted DVLA over a week ago to advise me of the Statutory Instrument that gives them authority to cancel Excise Duty when a car is sold and the new owner to forthwith take out a new one despite the fact that the old may still be current. No reply to a simple request. I did a search as best as i could to try and find it without success. -

Might i pass on a piece of advice and personal experience please. My 8 year old Audi has just passed it's MOT with no advisories. Ford Fiesta - Which Fiesta? 22 Aug 2014 (Forum)
The garage reckoned it was a faulty temperature sensor which they changed. We now wait to see if they have in fact fixed it. However we have both lost faith in the car and my wife wants to go back to diesel power. We're looking at a 12 to 18 month old Fiesta, questions are, what's the difference between the 1.5 and 1.6 units (other then 100cc) and which ones best to go for and why? -
Audi100S4 - Engine Cutting Out 30 Jul 2014 (Forum)
My 20 year old Audi 100s4 has done 98,000 miles and is well maintained. Over past 3 years the engine has cut out on the motorway a few times at irregular intervals. All power is lost and the car sometimes restarts immediately but other times it does not and needs to be towed.
