Renault Megane service indicator 16 Dec 2005 (Forum)
The Megane has started flashing a message saying 'Change oil soon'. It's on 14500 miles, the service is not due until 18K but the oil was changed at 9K. So I assume that the service message is just a counter down to the 18K point? Or does the car assess the quality of the oil like some of the VW's do? -

Oil Spec VW 505 500 or 505 501 20 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Even when I said that the oil would be changed again at the first scheduled service - in 5000m - all said I should still change it and muttered darkly about possible damage if I didn't. I am happy to do this, in order to preserve the car i good condition (the whole point of the 'extra' change anyway) But, I wonder: 1. -

14,000 miles. Diesel BMW Oil Change ??? 24 Dec 2003 (Forum)
I have recently bought a 15 month old BMW 330D. (36,000 motorway miles) I have noted that according to the service book the car has had oil changes every 14,000 miles... Being of the old school with regards to changing engine oil I immediately contacted several BMW main dealers..They all assured me it was ok to leave the servicing so long as they use \"special longlife Castrol SLX oil\".. -
Removing oil through the dipstick. 27 Apr 2008 (Forum)
It had a thin tube which you insert into the dipstick tube of the engine in your car and remove the engine oil. Basically it allows you to change the engine oil without the need to get under it to remove the sump plug. Not recommended because you should change the oil filter as well unless it is accessible from top of the engine. -
Oil Filter Quality 9 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Hello, There have been quite a few postings about the good value oli and filter changes provided by Nationa; Tyres, Kwik Fit etc. I have been using National Tyres for a little while. I believe they use Duckhams semi-synthetic oil, but my question is about the quality of the oil filters. -
Renault Scenic (2003 - 2009) - 2004 1.4 Change oil and Service Indicator 23 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I have just bought a Renault Scenic 1.4 16v. The garage I have bought it from have told me they just need to remove the 'change oil and service' warnings! This did ring alarm bells with me but it was closing time and they assured me it has been serviced! Can anyone tell me, as this car seems to automatically tell you everything, does it automatically update itself when the oil has been changed? -

Clio oil filter question ? 24 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Having a few months ago come across two different oil filter specs and sizes for the same Focus when changing the oil for my mother-in-law, today I bought a filter from a Renault dealer for the wife's Clio, it is about 2/3 the size of every other one that has been fitted to the car though is categorically the right one according to the dealer, the spec has changed they say, it is a '98 1.6 RXE manual. -
No gearbox drain plug?!? 9 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Sorry to start another thread about the same issue, but I've just been told by a Ford garage that the gearbox oil in my 2.0 Focus can't be changed due to the fact that there's no drain plug!!! Can anyone confirm this? Surely the gearbox oil has to be changed later in the car's life?!? When I queried this with the Ford garage I was told that oil can be added but not drained. -
Oil Leak 16 Apr 2002 (Forum)
My 306 TD has just developed a small oil leak just after having an oil change. Any ideas as to the cause and cost of repair. Can it be that the oil was overfilled and if so will this right itself in due course. Any ideas appreciated, -
Volkswagen Polo IV - Oil Pressure Problem 19 Dec 2013 (Forum)
Got a VW polo 2002-2005 model, 1.2 petrol engine, chain driven oil pump and the car has covered 70k miles. Was driving along and the oil pressure warning light came on, along with quite a large loss of power having to rev it more than usual. So far, I've done the obvious things; changed the oil and filter and changed the oil pressure switch which made no difference and didn't put out the light. -

Volkswagen Beetle (1998 - ) - 2000 2.0 - Engine oil level warning light stays on 4 Jan 2008 (Forum)
I bought a Vw beetle on W reg with 2.0 petrol engine. It has got a yellow oil warning light on - instruction manual says it means oil level low. The level is fine and the oil pressure is fine as well. There is no noise from the engine. On code scanner no fault code shown. Then my mechanic changed the oil and filter, and checked all the switches on the engine for oil level. -
Vauxhall Corsa C (2000 - 2006) - 2005 1.4 SRI Head Gasket gone?? 31 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Hi, Last weekend I decided to give my car an oil change but before doing so i noticed that the oil under the oil cap was a cream colour. However, i proceeded to clean the oil cap, flush the engine and then change the oil. I checked the oil again today having done roughly 150 miles and once again the oil cap has the cream colour oil on it. -
Flushing oil 19 Jun 2001 (Forum)
And while I'm here what about those "add to oil before changing" flushing additives? If your car doesn't use any oil then that means you're overfilling it but does that matter for 15 mins on a fast idle? TIA Richard Shutt -

Skoda Octavia Mk3 1.5 TSI DSG hatch - New Car Oil & Filter Change at 1,000miles? 26 Jul 2020 (Forum)
Is it worthwhile booking it in (and me paying for) at 1,000 mile point a simple engine oil and filter change by the Skoda dealer? As an engineer, I fully understand that machines do need to be run in and some early wear/oil contamination is likely. I want to keep the car for up to five years, so early care might be prudent??
