Paris set to ban old cars? 14 Nov 2012 (News)
Although it's not been spelled out yet, that would likely take the form of another Scrappage scheme - a costly exercise given the state of France's economy right now. The package of anti-vehicle measures also includes toll barriers on cross-city motorways for lorries, and eco-taxes for those using the inner ring-road, or infamous boulevard périphérique. -
PSA Developing Petrol Engine Under 100g/km CO2 24 Apr 2008 (News)
The aim is to bring to market vehicles with CO2 emissions below 100g/km without additional technology. Two extremely competitive manufacturing sites will be established, one in France, the other in Eastern Europe. The first facility, with an annual capacity of 600,000 engines, will be operational as of 2011. It will be located in France on the PSA Peugeot Citroën site at Trémery and will enable the creation of over 500 jobs. -

PSA completes deal for Vauxhall and Opel 1 Aug 2017 (News)
France’s PSA group – which owns Peugeot and Citroen – has completed its acquisition of Opel and Vauxhall from General Motors. The deal makes PSA Europe’s second largest vehicle manufacturer, behind Volkswagen group. -
Renault Clio Gets Down tp 98g/km CO2 12 Jan 2010 (News)

Rare Intermeccanica in Historics November Auction 22 Oct 2018 (News)
Also included is a book written by Paula Reisner, titled, ‘Intermeccanica – The Story of the Prancing Bull’. Discovered in a free ad in France that intrigued the current vendor, he went to see the car and bought it from its British owner who was seeking to finance his return to the UK. The Indra has since been made reliable for long distance touring being used on regular trips to the south of France. -
The end of the road for the Geneva Motor Show as 2021 event cancelled 30 Jun 2020 (News)
It regularly attracts more than half a million visitors, from both press and public - and is Switzerland's largest public event. It makes about 200m Swiss francs (£171 million) a year, according to the organisers. The Committee and Council of the Foundation “Salon International de l’Automobile,” which puts on the show, had been seeking financial help from the Swiss government in the months since the cancellation, and the Canton of Geneva offered a loan of 16.8 million Swiss francs. But the foundation turned down the loan. -
Techno Classica 2015: Blue Train Bentley celebrates 85th birthday 20 Apr 2015 (News)
He arrived at the Conservative Club in St James, London for a celebratory drink having passed the clock at Victoria Railway Station at 15.30 the next day - four minutes before the train was due to arrive in Calais, having averaged 43.43mph driving on pre-motorway roads. He won the £100 wager, although the Automotive Club de France attempted to fine him £200 for an un-authorised race in France. The Speed Six evolved in 1929 as a racing version of the 6½ Litre, introduced in 1926. The first car raced as No 1 at Le Mans in 1929 where it won, and returned as ‘Old No 1’ to win again in 1930. -
Preview: Winter Challenge rally, Troyes, 23-27 February 17 Jan 2014 (News)
Crews will drive down from the famous historic motorsport show through Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Hampshire to Portsmouth where they will take an overnight ferry to Caen, in France. The continental part of the rally will start from Troyes in Northern France, where drivers from mainland Europe will join the UK starters. The main route will take them through Le Mans, Bourges, Valence and Saint-Raphael before crossing the finish line on the famous Col de Turini on the afternoon of 27 February. -
New car sales continue to grow in November 6 Dec 2012 (News)
The SMMT is now predicting that 2,013,000 in 2012, and that will be the best year since 2008. Interestingly, the UK's new car sales have overtaken France's during January-October to become the EU's second largest market behind Germany. Despite the encouraging growth in 2012, volumes remain 15% below the pre-recession annual markets of 2.4 million units and above. -

French barn finds head to auction 11 Mar 2016 (News)
The entire collection of a recently deceased enthusiast is set to go under the hammer at an auction in his native France – with more than 70 vehicles up for grabs, including classic cars, motorcycles and a fascinating array of children’s pedal cars. Previously stored in a barn in the rural area of Cléguérec, the collection is being sold on Easter Saturday (March 26, 2016) by specialist auction house Jack-Philippe Ruellan. -

The final results for the sale, which lasted more than five hours, were an impressive auction total of €8.7m, more than €2m above the initial estimate, with 90% of the 92 collectors' cars sold - with 60% of these offered at no reserve. The majority of cars will remain in France, including lot 257, the 1935 Bugatti 57 Gangloff, which came to the sale from outside France and now returns home. Some 13 cars sold to Eastern Europe, with many others going to collectors from other European countries and the US. -

True or not, keeping within the law is easy enough if you know what’s required. Motoring rules change between different European countries; for example, in France only one warning triangle is required, whilst in Spain two are needed. In some countries a First Aid kit is required, whilst not in others. Only a single Reflective vest is required for the driver in France although the French Société Prévention Routiére recommend vest are carried for all passengers, as is the legal requirement in Spain. -
Renault 16 anniversary marked with Monte Carlo historic rally entry 23 Jan 2015 (News)
The car, which was named Car of the Year in 1966, will start the 2015 event in Reims, northern France, on 30 Jan. Car number 16 will be drive by ex-Formula 1 driver Michel Leclère. The winner of the 1969 Premier Pas Dunlop Gordini Cup will be joined in the car by Laurent Lamat and Gilles Dubois, winners of a competition organised by FCRA (Fédération des Clubs Renault et Alpine). -
Classics rev up for Monte Carlo rally 25 Jan 2017 (News)
It’s the fourth time the large town has been used as a British start point for the 1300-mile trip to the south of France. Three classes of cars take part in the event. The Historique class is restricted to models that competed in the Monte Carlo Rallies between 1955 and 1980. It will take place over eight days on open public roads with the cars and crews undertaking a series of 14 demanding test stages in the mountains of southern France. -
UK motorists 'less likely to drive abroad' following Brexit 15 Aug 2016 (News)
For example, while you may know that you must attach a headlamp adjustment kit to your car before heading across the channel, you’re less likely to know that in Spain, glasses wearers are obliged to drive with a spare pair of spectacles. Other rules include it being illegal to drive in France without a breathalyser kit, and illegal to carry a bike in the rear of a car in Portugal. Most bizarrely, in Denmark it’s a legal obligation to check underneath a car for sleeping children before pulling away. -

Dusek in 1960, an architect living in Pennsylvania. Following its time in American, the car was brought to France in 1970. The American architect sold it to Pierre Bardinon, the astute collector who over the years assembled some 50 factory Ferraris comprising the most successful and iconic models in the history of the marque. -

Exhausts, engine mountings, suspension and fuel systems – some preparation garages have made things more complicated and therefore more troublesome and harder to fettle in the middle of nowhere – the sweep mechanics are going to be working long into the night. Lots of cars have been in real difficulties today. Car 1, the big La France, had a chain come off the chain-drive La France, and was the first car to go down. Most have suffered suspension troubles. There is a great atmosphere in the camp site tonight, but the Sweeper Mechanics look like burning another drum of midnight oil to get everyone fit for more of this tomorrow…
