  Seems like I'm in the DPF conundrum. I have a 2.1 diesel and do about 7,000 a year. I've had it four years now and wasn't aware 'til later about the problems. What's the best way to avoid the DPF issues?

  Hello, Do any of the VW 1.6 TDI CAYA (75BHP) or CAYB (90BHP) engines come *without* a DPF as standard? I may need to replace my trusty 2008 Skoda Fabia 1.4Tdi (BNV version = no DPF) nicely run in after a faultless 165,000 miles. But I do  not want a DPF. If I cannot find a 1.6 TDI without a DPF then I guess I will just stick with my trusty Fabia.

  Many Motorists are currently selling a non DPF diesel - still in it`s prime - only to lumber themselves with a DPF job, to use on short trips. (And there is no going back - because that non DPF car will be snapped up and kept for the next 10yrs by someone with technical knowledge.)

  Hello all, We have ordered a new Focus MK3 (2011) and would like to know which DPF the Focus will be fitted with. I know that it will either be the Eolys fluid dpf or the newer C-DPF but I'm not sure as the new 1.6 TDCi 115 is basically a revised version of the 109 TDCi.  I hope someone can help,  Thank-you Matthew Kirk

  The car registered an amber warning ‘ engine/transmission’ book says take to garage. Error msgs read ‘DPF’ failure. warranty claim with XXX company - claim refused as DPF had deteriorated  they say. They asked for all error msgs first, then wanted the DPF stripped out and photos sent.  garage say DPF a not a consumable like brake pads , clutch etc.

  Have read threads about fuel consumption on 2.0 Mondeo Diesels affected by DPF. Can anyone quote comparitive figures for a Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.6 (110bhp) with and without DPF (Citroen call it FAP). Any other problems with picasso's with DPF.? I am experiencing a 10% increase in fuel with my newest XPic.

  Apart from avoiding short runs from cold starts, is there anything else I can do to protect the DPF on my BMW 520d (177)? Will the use of premium grade fuel improve the life of DPF? And what about the grade of engine oil?

  Hi wonderif anyone else has had issues with DPF (sensor showing electrical malfunction) (Audi A4 - 2008) The light came on and warranty refused to cover it,i argued it wasnt a part of the DPF but simply a sensor which i feel is part of the Engine management system to flag up issues, the DPF was fine it was the sensor that was at fault.

  Im about to buy a focus 1.8 ghia 2006 .but today ive heard about possible dpf problems. I have been told by a mechanic at the showroom that a dpf is not fitted on this model and only on 2009 models only,however im not sure who to believe. Can anyone advise me if a dpf is fitted on a 1.8 ghia?
