  • Hyundai Santa Fe - Consumer righs 5 Aug 2015 (Forum)
I sent the details to the dealer who to be honest didn't want to know.  I've followed the process via the consumer rights website and today received a letter stating that as I did not pull onto the hard shoulder immediately as per the owners guide I am responsible for the damage through negligence. I followed the guidence of the highway code to the letter (rule 270).
  • Volvo C30 - Volvo c30 broken from dealers 18 Sep 2014 (Forum)
If the retailer does not agree, it is for the retailer to prove that the goods were satisfactory at the time of sale. This comes from Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002, derived from EU Directive 1999/44/EU which became Clauses 48A to 48F inclusive of the Sale of Goods act in April 2003
  • Renault kadjar - Turbo failure on low mileage car Consumer rights? 16 Sep 2023 (Forum)
I'm waiting for a reply. Meanwhile my car is still at the dealers. 3 weeks later. I've read the consumers rights act 2015. My car is out of warranty. Unfortunately the manufacturer warranty was only 3 years in 2016 although since downloading the MY RENAULT app it says an additional warranty 4+ or 100k miles expired July 2020.
  • Corsa D - Dealer or Trader? 24 Jun 2017 (Forum)
I baught a - now faulty - car 10 days ago, from https://www.yell.com/biz/fmr-used-cars-uk-nottingham-8840929/ and have an invoice stamped 'sold as seen'. I understand the consumer rights act 2015 can certainly overrule that stamp if he is a dealer... But how do I tell if he is so?
  • Mazda - 2012 - Used Car - Consumer Rights - how long for a repair? 10 May 2016 (Forum)
I still have my old car (up for sale), paying two sets of insurance / tax.  What are my consumer rights? Is there a maximum amount of time, they can take? I was not happy, they are fitting not fitting original Mazda parts, as I was hoping to buy Mazda warantee. It could scupper my plans, if there are non-Mazda parts in the car.
  • Mitsubishi L200 - New L200 Barbarian - rejecting under consumer act 29 Apr 2016 (Forum)
The agreement is non regulated so I cannot complain to FOS. They have pointed me towards the Finance and Leasing association but I am unsure if this is the right next step. My limit understanding is I want to reject the vehicle as not being fit for purpose under the consumer goods act. Who do I turn to help enforce this? Any advice would be great.
  • Advice on Small Claims Process 5 Oct 2021 (Forum)
So, a few questions: Is a blown head gasket something that should count under the Consumer Rights Act? My thinking is that generally it shows underlying issues and really shouldn't happen within a few days of buying the car, but that's just from limited research. How long does a process like this tend to take?
  • Vauxhall Antara - Bought used car without warranty - Advice please 5 Aug 2020 (Forum)
Do I even have a leg to stand on, as it is not under warranty and is 7 years old with 91k on the clock? Am I. Covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, or is it debatable because of these reasons?   Thank you.

  • CVT transmission failure 21 Dec 2019 (Forum)
After reviewing all the online information and other reviews at Honest John it looks clear to me that this is a very common fault and maybe the manufacturer have breached all affected peoples consumer rights by supplying parts that are not of a satisfactory quality? According to online information the manufacturer has already been found guilty in a foreign court of law to have provided CVT transmission to consumers with known defects.
  • MINI Countryman cooper D 4WD - Transfer box 11 Jan 2018 (Forum)
This is an expensive car. Failing this take it elsewhere for a more reasonable quote? The reason consumers write to HJ is for advice as they know little about the mechanics and their consumer rights which is reflected through this forum. I appreciate that sometimes the full letter to HJ is sometimes not published in full!
  • Renault Clio - Consumer act 2015, refund due to fault 18 Aug 2017 (Forum)
Due to me only having the car for more than 30 days and under 6 months, I am able to use the consumer act 2015 and reject the car for a full refund since Renault have had there one change to repair the car. In the consumer act it states the following, If it goes wrong within the first 30 days of ownership, you can simply reject it out of hand for a full refund.

  • Kia Rio - Cylinder Head Gasket - 5 months after purchase 3 May 2023 (Forum)
I purchased the car just under 5 months previous to this happening from a dealer, predictably, the warranty company has rejected the repairs so I'm wondering my rights under the Consumers Rights Act 2015.

  • Jeep Cherokee - Consumer rights with used car? 14 Feb 2015 (Forum)
I explained all of the above to him and he told me that he never said that at point of sale and that he had only changed the oil and oil filter and that I should have known that. He then began to shout at me and talk over me whilst I was trying to explain my dilemma and consumer rights. He then shouted at me to come and pay £1000 and he'll see me in court. I feel very shaken by the whole experience and do not wish to have any further dealings with that man. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
  • Honda CR-V - Ripped Off 1 Jun 2015 (Forum)
I also contacted my credit card company as we made part payment for it this way as well as by cash. I understand they are jointly liable under the consumer credit act for the full amount. Is that right? Any advice or help welcome. Thanks.
  • more money to be spent 30 May 2009 (Forum)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8074947.stm The garage owner at the end of the piece has it right in my opinion, why spend even more money on something you dont need when your customers all come due to word of mouth. A piece of paper saying approved means nothing to me ,but can be used as a scare tactic by large franchised organisations to scare the punters into work that is often led by monetary need and bonus schemes rather than for the safety and benefit of the consumer.
