  Replacing the cable fixed it, as the ECU could now talk to the "failed" motor and battery in question. He's wondering if the lease company are going to spot that the eye-wateringly large bill resulting is actually for a load of unnecessary work and a 30EUR cable. I suppose the point of this is that, if you have a Honda with IMA and some bright spark at Honda tells you it needs all the IMA bits replacing, get 'em to check the wiring first.

  That has improved things but still having problems start of day when very cold, so now figure that some of the existing problem might be glow plugs. It normally does start (when it doesn't I do then need to charge battery). Seems to 'chug' to life - reluctant to turn over almost as if it's the battery struggling even when I know it's fully charged. When it does start it will be fine the rest of the day. Likewise if it's mild overnight rather than freezing it will be ok.

  I have a 1999 Audi A6 2.5 TDi V6 that won't start - can anyone give me a pointer in the right direction......? The car has been left standing for 6 months. I went to it last weekend & the battery was completely flat, nothing in it whatsoever. I removed the battery & fitted a brand new fully charged one, tried to start it, but wouldn't fire up. I looked down the oil filler cap to ensure that the timing belt was OK & the belt is OK as everything in the rocker box is turning as it should.
