Fiat Bravo 1.6 multijet (2012) - Faulty radio and main dealer trouble! 17 Feb 2016 (Forum)
After a few calls back and forth one of his colleages called us stating that as I had their warranty, 3 yr extended with their company and run by Car Care Plan, I can should take the car to a local Fiat dealer and have the radio sorted that way. At this point the radio behaved itself for several weeks but I contacted my local dealer explained the problem and asked if they could do the warranty work. -
16 important OIL questions answered! 8 Jan 2013 (Forum)
t know about oil is not worth knowing in our opinion! Even though some of these topics may have been covered before here, this post is well worth reading. 1) How is an oil manufactured; transformed from the black sludge that comes out of the ground, into the nectar-like substance we pour into our cars and bikes? -
KIA Picanto - KIA Picanto - Crankshaft Pulley Bolt Failure 18 Aug 2022 (Forum)
I was advised that if the problem continued, they would require the car to be left for the whole day, rather than just a single afternoon. The dealer also advised that the car chassis number did not fall within the range of cars affected by the crankshaft pulley bolt failure. -
A week with an MG3 26 Jun 2014 (Forum)
Its big brother, the never-popular MG6, has the most cacky, flimsy fob in history so it’s nice that MG has learned from this mistake and given its new small car a nice, substantial flick key. The good impression isn’t spoilt by the car itself which looks nice, in a generic, last-generation Hyundai sort of way. The flappy door handles are old fashioned but the alloys on this car have a matt inner bit, a polished outer face and proper, intricate MG badge. -
[C]5 go on a trip........ 21 Mar 2002 (Forum)
The sun visors follow the general trend of cheap, plastic, and likely to break. Clearly there was little or no quality control on the design or the building of the car. For another example, when lifting up the hatch, obviously the inside surface is covered in a fibre/carpet to match the rest of the interior. All cars are pretty much the same. However, it isn?t finished. -
Mazda Mazda 3 (2004 - 2009) - Piston-Slap Issue, Katano 1,600cc Petrol. 20 Mar 2008 (Forum)
For example, at circa minus 7C, the engine sounds as if it is running without oil, which it is not. Trading Standards (deleted) advise that, should the car fail, it is covered under warranty, but that if I believe there is a manufactured issue ( i.e. piston-slap), then legal action and employment of a Technical Expert is the only recourse, which is why I? -
Advice Please- INSURER CONSENT AND ASSIGNMENT FORM 1 Mar 2021 (Forum)
Then a few months ago in Dec 2020 I get another email from the same chap at AXA asking me again to sign this form. What I believe has happened here is that the driver at fault was not covered by his insurer for whatever reason. I suspect it was a company car and he was not actually covered for driving it. Either way, I don't care, not my problem. I was insured with Swift, made my claim and it got sorted. -
The complete driver. Why worry? 27 Apr 2003 (Forum)
We have no more need to be reminded of this, than as loyal subjects we require a written constitution. THE CAR The car, as you know, is a derivation of the gentleman?s carriage. As such, it is a conveyance of the well-to-do. You will, in such modern times, encounter cars that have fallen from grace into the hands of more common folk. -
Unclaimed test pass - Legal questions 30 Nov 2012 (Forum)
I then moved to Germany from where I sent off my pass certificate to obtain my full licence which I never received and, because I was out of the country, never actually followed up. Skip forward twenty years to 2009 and I needed to produce my licence to buy a car on credit. I contacted DVLA for a replacement and they responded by telling me that I had not claimed my licence and consequently it had expired and I would have to take a new theory and practical test. -
Honda CBR600F - charging problems? 26 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Hi guys, At the weekend, I went with my brother in law has to pick up his new toy - a very clean 2002 Honda CBR600F which may or may not have a problem with the charging system - I would appreciate your views. In case you're wondering why I was riding it and not him, I should explain that I have TP cover on any bike and he doesn't, so I offered to bring it back for him. It was hardly a chore - it's a lovely bike. Well, nearly... Anyway, this thing has tiny mileage (just 3,400 from new) and has done only 220 miles between the last two MOT's. -
Seat Leon 1.4 TSI - First 10 weeks. 18 Oct 2015 (Forum)
Excellent service. Dealer took BMW in PX and Leon was delivered 4 days after order, by some fluke he had exactly the car and colour I wanted in stock, not normally that lucky. Saved £1700 on the price to swap compared to best local deal. Well I have had it for 10 weeks now and about 1800 miles. -
BMW 3-Series E90 (2005 - ) - 325d 2nd Impression 24 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Most of the first two weeks getting to know you has been conducted in my garage as I continued to drive the Audi until I sold it a few days ago. In the middle of week three a conservative 120 miles have been covered in the BM. It occurs to me that I probably don't need a car at all. In those few miles the "OBC" computes an average consumption of 36.2 mpg. If accurate then it's mission accomplished as this model was chosen for its claimed frugality. -
Advice needed after accident :( 21 Dec 2005 (Forum)
As I have said, I was doing about 45 and keeping station with the car in front. We accelerated very slowly out of death hill but there's no where to safely over take and I wasn't in a rush so I just kept my distance. we went over the crest of the hill and down the other side, so i could only see the car infront of me and not the car infront of him (or her)... when the coupe infront of me suddenly swerved round the car infront of me, complete with screeching brakes and everything. -
BMW 3-Series E90 (2005 - ) - 325d SE Day 1 - Collection 29 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I discover that I seem to have paid £205 for a USB extension cable as the iPod interface is standard on the car. I can go into a room in the office and emerge covered from head to toe in USB extension cables. Ah well, live and learn. Not. The Montego blue does look nice in the sunshine, I have to say. I'm glad I ordered the black leather. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 2004 TDCi 130 boot release mechanism malfunction 26 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Anyone who wants to pay me £12.50 for this information, please feel free. I reckon 8 donations should just about cover the cost of the job the dealer did.... -
Toyota RAV4 - Toyota RAV4 - Dodgy MOT/Ripped Off? 18 Jul 2023 (Forum)
I'm trying to ascertain if we have any recourse here against the trader/dealer or MOT Inspector or; if we've just thrown £4400 down the drain. I understand it's on us to proove that the car was sold to us with issues which should have been picked up in the MOT before sale. We do have the time and energy to get a couple of garages to inspect and report on the state of Rust/Corrosion on the underbody to be used in a case in small claims court. -
Musings on Sat Nav/phones + Google/Nokia maps. 7 Apr 2010 (Forum)
(it proved to be not so) This free skype client runs on the 3 network, initially through their own servers - so a Skype client downloaded off the internet would rack up data charges. The £29 cheaper Phone from Car Phone Warehouse is unlocked - a major consideration... I bought a phone from Car Phone Warehouse and expored options. First I downloaded the new voice maps from Nokia - then via their PC Suite - then maps for Europe, Africa, USA, Asia, Australia, New Zealand - are a free download. -
Zafira 1.6 2007 - Nightmare trader/mechanics- Zafira 26 Apr 2018 (Forum)
Ive heard about the right to reject a car up to 6mths with genuine faults and this is driving me mad now. I have had to hire a car which cost me an arm and a leg, now Im in a tiny courtesy car and lost a full 2 days working time to sort this out which still isnt sorted. -
Mini Cooper S Coupe - Second hand car problems from purchase 30 Nov 2013 (Forum)
When I got home, 19 miles, there was still the noise and also the stop start feature was not working properly and when checking again internally there was damage to the area behind the headrests. I ran the car for a little longer and then decided to go to the garage to ask their opinion and to highlight all of the issues. On the 29 th October I took the car out and was concerned about the brakes again so went to Mini Crewe. -
Buying a new car 22 Dec 2013 (Forum)
This car had the best gearbox of any car that I drove, so positive and precise. Unfortunately the engine just didn’t excite me in any way, quite slow acceleration and no real get up and go, a shame really because the car is very well built and very practical.
