  1.6 zetec escort very poor running reving up surging dieing out and the ocasional backfire crank shaft sensor changed usual service done plugs etc coil pack changed today but no change. any help would be greatly appreciated

  1.6 Zetec Petrol. First turn of the ignition it starts then stalls. Second attempt it runs fine. Anyway I thought I would give the Idle Control Valve a check and clean. BUT what does it look like and where can I find it?

  Windows on wifes Focus keep misting up overnight. Sometimes quite badly (i.e. running down the windscreen). In the cold weather, they're misted up within an hour of parking. When driving, no problem. Tried leaving aircon on and tried leaving it off - makes no difference. Carpets, seats, etc all bone dry.

  ...has been off line for ages. Looks like there has been trouble at mill. Has anyone any idea when it will be up and running again? Must declare my interest as a Volvo 740 owner - sorry - who has been too tight to join the Volvo club.

  my wifes little 106xld is drinking water at the rate of half a pint every week,no external leaks,no smoke or steam and it runs sweetly.Is this a head gasket problem,by the way its the alloy head model.

  My heater does not blow hot air at all. i have tried to run the engine up to remove any air locks but this has not made any difference. All the heater controls work fine, but i just get no heat into the car. Can anyone help at all?

  Can someone help? I have a 306 hdi and I've just changed the turbo and replaced the cat and exhaust was running but just cut out and engine management came on engine just stopped and will now not start. Thanks. slight re-wording

  The temperature guage seldom moves from the bottom and into the bottom quarter - even after a longish run. Is it a thermostat problem? thanks

  Anyone out there running an A4 with the 2.0 (non-turbo) petrol engine mated to an autobox? I'm not too worried about economy. If there's a special offer on this out-going old-shape model then could it be a bargain? Or does it have reliability/performance issues and will it be totally eclipsed by the new shape A4?

  I have some aftermarket alloys, but the central hole is larger than the hub, whereas the original ones are a snug fit. The wheel nuts are tapered. Is it ok to run them as-is, or do I need to fit spacers so that the wheel is snug on the hub?

  Our Rover has got my hubby baffled! Its starts ok from cold, on the morning, but after its been for a run out and then stopped for a few minutes, its difficult to get it started again.

  My rover 414i has been for an mot and has failed on the emissions. also i get poor performance and mpg, and the engine will some times idle a bit unsteady going up and down. The car will run ok it just seems to have very poor acceleration power. slt

  Just bought this with a 3 month warranty and 60,000 on the clock. Noticed on a long run yesterday that it was misfiring under acceleration. Apologies if this is already covered elsewhere - but any ideas to help the mechanic diagnose the problem? Anybody know a good diesel mechanic in the Colchester/Ipswich area?

  I mean which one would return better MPG, would be cheaper to maintain, better torque at low revs and would run to higher miles? Please also provide any other information you think we would find useful!

  I very stupidly bought a Nissan Serena 1.6GX without test driving it. The speedo doesn't work! Would like to know if it runs off a fuse or cable and if it has a sensor on the gear box before I take it to the garage. All help gratefully accepted. Thank you Lynne

  My 2001 Citroen Picasso 1.8 SX petrol has started making a rattling/ticking noise that sounds a it like a diesel. I can hear it when idling and it seems to increase in speed as I accelerate. The car runs as usual in all other respects. Any ideas what the cause may be? Is this something I should get looked at urgently? Thanks Chris

  got a 206 14 hdi 27k on clock when i put mt foot flat to the floor i get i can only explain is a diesel knock and the mpg is rubbish 1 time i will get 62 then 33 then 50s then back down to 40s could this be a sticky injector if so how can i fix will injector cleaner do it the car runs great

BMW M5 Saloon Luckily i'm not picking up the purchase, running (tyres,fuel, servicing) or insurance cost, anyone had any of the above, i'm tempeted by the M5 then again i also like the 535D SE touring, but that's in a lower class.   If you had to choose one of these car with a budget of £3k which one would you go for? I like them both so I would like to know which one would be better in terms of reliability, running costs, comfy etc.. Image isn't the most important thing for me.
