Nissan Almera Tino - Suggestions for Automatic replacement 18 Feb 2018 (Forum)
Currently on 71,500 miles It gets an oil change and filter every year regardless of minimal miles covered and doesn't seem to be encountering the notorious "chcolate cam chain issue" that affected many of these cars, especially the 1.5 hatchbacks. Due to health issues with my wife (currently being investigated by the good people in the NHS ) it looks like an auto may be on the cards and so I am looking for some suggestions from the esteemed folks on this forum in the event that is the route we need to go. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - Common rail crap or what. Views please! 6 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Maybe they have had issues, attempting looking it up on net and have all found these sites which facilitates their shared experiences in dissing the engines and having a rant? I would love to see stats for these cars Ford / Mazda / toyota for those models that are still running versus those which have packed up. At this point, belive it or not , I am considering returning for the car in newcastle once ford sorts it. -
Alfa Brera - I've finally driven one 1 May 2007 (Forum)
I think it?s great that Alfa put what was basically a concept car into production. I unlocked the door and climbed in. The seats are covered in highly attractive black and grey and nice smelling leather and, after some fiddling around with the buttons, I found a comfortable driving position. -
New Jaguar XF spotted? 30 Apr 2007 (Forum)
The car gave the appearance of surfing along on effortless torque, lazily auto-slurring in to second gear as it passed me, and once again very rorty in the exhaust department. This was nothing though compared to what came 30 seconds later; with the car leaving the village, I could it for an age as it disappeared in to the distance up the Fosse Way. -
Toyota MR2 - Used Car Taking Dealer To Court Help! 9 Jul 2016 (Forum)
I purchased a car from a used car dealer, the dealer told me the car had failed its MOT due to a minor fault with the power steering. He told me that was the only thing wrong with the car. The money was exchanged and after this I had to sign an 'invoice' whereby the dealer said he was writing on the invoice that the car was 'unroadworthy' he said he was only using this term due to the power steering leak. -
Renault Clio - Renault Retail Group, long distance selling 14 Apr 2015 (Forum)
I placed a £500 deposit since I put my trust in him and that he had checked the car totally. During the phone call, he did walk around the car checking, but he kept on saying the car car was in mint condition and on that basis, that’s the reason I agreed to buy the car. I travelled down from Cumbria to Birmingham on the train to pick up the car and after doing the the paperwork, I went outside to inspect the car, only to find stone chips and scratches on one of the doors, I was fuming with the salesman and i told him that the car was not mint and that i was not buying the car, The salesman tried telling me that my interpretation of mint was different to his and he told me that the car was a ex hire car and that it had 6000Miles on the clock and to him, the car was mint due to its age which was 11 months old and if i wanted a car in mint condition, then i would have to buy a new car. -
Suzuki Jimny 2019 - Safety recalls 11 Jun 2022 (Forum)
I should make clear that my wife loves the car and we don’t want to return it or want any financial retribution but surely a main dealer can’t get away with this sort of behaviour? When buying a used car from a main dealer, or other garage, how many people actually ask, or check themselves, if there are any o/s safety recalls? -
BMW 1 Series - BMW 1 Series - advice needed. 28 Aug 2021 (Forum)
- Is there anything she needs to get from the mechanic to hold her in good stead in case she wants to take this further? - Aside from the clutch, the car was in good working order prior. Regularly serviced etc. She has called other mechanics and explained the situation and they all feel he may have messed up something with the electrics and he is trying to cover his back. -
Skoda Octavia Hatchback - Is there such a thing as an SUV for SPORTS? 12 Mar 2015 (Forum)
The DSG is a wonderful thing, and gives me great fuel economy. It is vastly superior to any previous auto box that I have ever had (maybe 12 different cars). The acceleration is great, and I don't want to lose that either. I've also tried to get by with a 4 door car, but the hatch is so incredibly practical. Space in the garage is limited, so I do not want to be going longer or wider than the Octavia at 4.6m x 1.8m. -
Peugeot 307 - Warrantywise won't pay 23 Feb 2013 (Forum)
Warrantywise made dozens of excuses as to why they will not pay out, they are as follows: 1 st reason – After inspecting my vehicle they refused to pay out because I was at fault for driving the vehicle when it was over heating. Just to confirm I am fully aware of the temperature gauge in my car, it is clearly visible and it was always on 90 °C as it should be. In addition to the temperature gauge in my car I have also a dashboard alert which will appear if the engine is too hot. -
Ford Mondeo IV (2007 - ) - Three weeks with a 2.0 TDCi auto 15 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I couldn't adjust the seat to get the head restarint just behind my head. Light for boot space is in the roof - this means the luggage cover has to be open for it to be any use. Cruise control has to be turned on before you can use it and it turns off every time you stop the car. Cruise buttons are on both sides of the steering wheel - 6 seems to be too many buttons. -
Celica GT Import - Emissions Failure 2 May 2007 (Forum)
Also may have wrong spark-plugs fitted. They said running on 95 RON petrol over here can cause these problems, and these cars should be run on 97 Super-unleaded to stop this happening. It is booked in to have both Lambda sensor and catalyst replaced........ I've owned the car approx 1year, it was imported early 2006 as far as I am aware, and was purchased with a new MOT. -
Nissan Almera Tino - Nissan Almera Tino - Engine Malfunction Indicator 4 Feb 2013 (Forum)
The other sympton is the rev counter flickers (only a little bit) which apparantly is a sign. And of course this is a big job - possibly not worth it considering the age and value of the car - which would be a shame. What is odd though is that if it was the timing chain, why did the light stay off for a day after changing the spark plugs!!?? I also read somewhere that someone had this issue and it turned out to be the air filter sensor that required cleaning. -
Drink Driving, probable outcome 24 May 2012 (Forum)
Last night I was pulled over by the police as my car came through as having no insurance as it was newly bought and only recently covered by Motor Insurance Bureau, after the police had established that I was indeed insured to drive they proceeded to breathalyse me (as I had admitted to having a drink). -
vw golf mk4 1.9 gttdi 130 - golf gt tdi 130 flat spot 16 Oct 2011 (Forum)
This would usually be attributeable to the turbo wastegate in my experience but I've also noticed a shiney area above the oil filler cap area on the top engine cover. I took the cap off with the engine running and there seemed a fair bit of pressure. The car starts perfectly every time and there is no smoke whatsoever even at higher revs so I doubt it's the rings. -
Next doors cat & the space time incontinence 5 Jul 2010 (Forum)
So that when your genome code is run through the medical repair machine - your left leg drops off - rather than you growing a new liver. Cos if we can`t allegedly get it right all the time with car manuals - what hope is there? I mean, every other creature we know seems to have limits to their understanding. Next doors cat for example - It might perceive the world in great simplicity. Eat sleep, catch a bird , play, lay on top of the engine and get covered in oil. -
Honda Civic Type R - Engine Failure 25 Jun 2006 (Forum)
We have confronted Honda and the main dealer with this information and they are unwilling to discuss the matter. Trading Standards are unable to help us as the purchase price of the car was over £5,000 (£14,995). Honda seems to be calling our bluff and forcing us to go to solicitors. This could prove very expensive. Can you help? Any suggestions or information would be welcomed. -
Dealer not giving car back ! 21 May 2013 (Forum)
Its been a while, and my mother suffers from anxiety and doesnt want to particularly be worried about court. I had to SORN the car to his yard, as I was worried he might use the car for illegal purposes, and sent the yellow part of V5 to DVLA (girlfriend managed to keep that part). I trust my girlfriend 100%, and she has written a statement signed that she didnt recieve any money from this dealer. -
SAAB 9-3 - Probable wrong diagnosis - Where do I stand? 20 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Thursday afternoon arrives and the guy has not turned up - apparently he did turn up and stayed until 7pm trying to sync the part to the car with no success. Friday I am told that the auto electrician has arranged a low loader to take the car to his workshop to get sorted out, as the part is still showing as "alien" to the car and is being rejected. -
New Car Advice/Reality Check 4 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Which, could be replenished after one year at my current position or in less time if I get a full-time job. I do not need a car per se, I currently take to bus to work and shop online (groceries, don't really spend much anyway) etc. However the reason why I want to get a car now rather than when I need one i.e. if I require one for full-time employment my reasoning is this: if I get a car now I can drive to places where I want to go, places where I want to see covering large distances i.e.
