Devious dealer??? - opinions please 5 Jun 2005 (Forum)
The third owner bought the car two months later, on condition a clutch judder problem was rectified and the car was given its 30,000 in the sale price. He sold the car in a private sale to me ten months later. The car was due its 37,500 mile service so decided to have a well known local Subaru dealership take on the work and give the car the once over. -
2007 Mini one 1.4 - Bought faulty car from dealership. 16 Aug 2017 (Forum)
When they arrived home with the car the red oil light flashed on and then off. The car has continued to do this ever since when the engine is hot and the car is going very slowly or reversing. My dad contacted the AA who towed the car back to the dealership the following day. -

Ford Mondeo - LPG? Forget it! 19 Sep 2013 (Forum)
Hi, If you ever think about converting your car to LPG then think very long and hard first and preferably go and lie down in a darkened room until the madness passes. It might work on some cars but it has been a complete and utter disaster for me and I'm very badly out of pocket. -
SEAT Toledo - Conrod through Engine Block - SEAT 1.9 TDI BXE 28 Apr 2013 (Forum)
I believe that there is hardly oil in the engine NOW because when the conrod threw, my car and the road ended up covered in oil. Somehow I managed to drive the car 1/4 mile to safety and I can still see the trail of oil that my car left!! SEAT have said that I can go in and look at the engine and talk it through with a technician. -
Skoda Octavia 1.9TDi PD Ambiente - Turbo Failure VAG (VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda)1.9TDi PD 12 Aug 2012 (Forum)
It could have killed me! Fortunately the oncoming vehicles managed to avoid my car and eventually some people pushed me to safety. I have AA cover, so they assisted but the OBD2 laptop didn't report any engine fault codes whatsoever? The engine still wouldn't start and some smoke was coming out of the turbo air-intake ducting as the AA turned the engine over. -
Hyundai i20 (2009) - bought new car using scrappage - initial views 20 Aug 2009 (Forum)
A bit gutless (but not pushed as running in and my car's a V6) and bland 2. Too wide to fit in the garage (well, I could but the wife would knock the mirrors). A bit silly when you can't even get a supermini in the garage! 3. Not too impressed with the selling dealer - car in poor condition when we went to look at it last Monday (all covered in tree sap), plus didn't like the salesman answering his phone all the time when he was supposed to be dealing with us. -
Seat Leon FR TDi 170: 5,500mile report 3 Jan 2007 (Forum)
As promised a review of my Leon at 5,500 miles and 4 months For comparison, my previous car was a Toledo 110 TDi (old, non-PD lump) and my wife?s car is an Octavia 2.0 TDi with the 140bhp engine. Overall I?m very pleased with the car. It still looks distinctive in a way the Golf never will without being so boy-racer-ish it attracts the wrong kind of attention. -
Audi A1 - Reject New Audi 28 Mar 2012 (Forum)
Car towed back to the dealership. The car has 16 issues, however the main issue for me is Water Ingress. When the car is left stationary overnight for example or during the hours I am at work, if there has been any rain/cold weather all the glass inside the vehicle will be very very misted and will be soaked in water. -
Audi A1 - Reject New Audi 21 Mar 2012 (Forum)
So unfortuantely I am now going to be left without a vehicle when my work depends on the use of the car, and for me to get a car of like for like specification will require the car to be factory built for me and this is unlikely to arrive until September. If I go to another dealer they will not do the same deal for me and also I wanted to know where I stand legally as I have been making monthly payments on the car and have paid my document fee. -
Clio mk1 - Clio mk1 overheating - advice please? 26 Apr 2016 (Forum)
) Really grateful for any assistance please. AMY *update Have left car overnight and no leaks. Have looked deep into MB C220 CDI - momentum warranties - the wear and tear scam 25 Sep 2012 (Forum)
So wife calls me and says her car is making a screeching noise and blowing black smoke. I tell her not to drive it one inch further and have it recovered - which she does. The garage it was recovered to immediately diagnoses turbo failure. -
Mondeo s reg. Significant fuel leak 13 Jun 2006 (Forum)
S reg 2.0l auto saloon petrol Today I suffered a significant fuel leak from the tank area. The car was at full operating temperature with approx 2 gall left in the tank. I had just filled up the tank and had then driven to a car park to park for a few hours. Having parked, I then immediately got a big whiff of petrol. -
Omega query: tie-rods fouling alloys. 4 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Now this..... It's a shame because it's putting me off what is genuinely a great car due to no fault of it's own. -
Seat Ibiza - Webuyanycar.com 12 Apr 2019 (Forum)
I don’t know if any posters have ever used this outfit, but having dabbled with them in the past for indicative valuations, we used them for real at the weekend and I thought others might be interested in our experience. For background, when my wife bought her new car 18 months ago we kept her old car for our sons to use. They don’t often visit, but when they do it’s useful to be able to offer them a car to run around in. They all live abroad, so when they visit it’s never just for a day and our Ibiza saves them having to hire a car. -
Six months with a Skoda 16 Jan 2007 (Forum)
I have averaged around 46 mpg with mainly 5th gear driving and a full heavily laden boot. In fact the car looks better with a full boot as it sits a bit lower. Starting inside, the seats are a bit too narrow but are an improvement length wise over the old car. A lot of the ?missing? space is used up by a cubby and plastic covering for the seat mechanism so why no wide seats? -
2002 VW Passat TDI Power Loss 7 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Only by revving the car hard and excessive use of the gearbox to keep it above 3,500 revs can I get the sort of performance I experienced before. It is particularly reluctant to pull a high gear in low revs and needs to be above 3,500 revs to get any decent movement in a high gear. -
Discovering the joys of diesel 14 Jul 2004 (Forum)
I set off at the same times I used to, I arrive at the same times I used to, I allow the same times for journies that I used to. I've opted out of "cars for fun" or "cars as status symbols" side of things, I just want cheap, reliable, practical motoring. A 106 diesel has all the kudos of a double decker bus, and that suits me just fine. I can't ever see myself going back to a petrol car again, my next car will be a nice turbo diesel of some description, but if it's less than 50mpg, I ain't interested. -
Vauxhall Zafira A - Electrical gremlins or something else? 11 Sep 2017 (Forum)
This in all likelihood is when things mysteriously changed. So at this point I think I need to take the car to an auto-electrician. Can anybody think of anything else I can check or attempt to rule out before I do? -
Volkswagen Scirocco 1.4 TSI - Scirocco 1.4 TSI cylinder/piston issues 17 Jul 2014 (Forum)
My second question is regarding my 'warranty' company of which I am paying £729 over 5 years for 3 years cover, the company - Mapfre Abraxas, are they trying to pull a fast one? They're trying to claim it's 'general wear and tear', but I strongly disagree as how can piston failure on a car 4 years old with only 40k on the clock be acceptable in terms of wear and tear?
