  Hi all, Had an unfortunate incident where I had scratched the bumper of my A6 against an A5 in the Audi showroom car park. The showroom contacted their recommended repairers who mentioned a repair figure of hold your breath £1133 for the A5 and £1624 for the A6 Mine is a 3 year old car and Im not sure whether I should ask my insurers whether to go along with their recommended repairers ,or the Audi showrooms recommendation.

  The noise definitely comes from the front of the car, but is most noticable when you are in the car itself..especially when sitting at, say, the traffic lights?!! I had the cambelt, dampner, waterpump etc, changed at the Audi dealer 3000K ago (3 months)....Help, please? Best, Craig s

  or just ring Audi tomorrow and let them sort it. She is going to call her insurance company tonight as she isnt interested in getting it fixed without them involved (Audi estimate over 1.5K) so probably just as well.

  I read very recently that Audi America recalled some 50,000 A6 Quattro models (1998-2000)for faulty fuel sending units. Sulphur deposits on the fuel sending units (3) gave false readings such that empty fuel tanks gave the impression that there was fuel in the car.

  I own a 1996 "old Shape" Audi A6 2.5 TDI (140bhp) with 130,000. I have driven diesels for many years and I know that diesels can be smokey when accelerated hard. I feel that mine does so excessively and I wondered if this is a characteristic of this engine.

  On my recent business trip to Germany I was rather generously lent a new Audi A6 to use on a day off. Its quite a beast of a car - large, very roomy, and with a somewhat 'gross' front end that is not to my taste. Anyhow, I took it from Munich down to Mittenwald (a delightful village, about 10km from the Austrian border) - with time for lunch at the Gasthof Stern there.
