• Ford Mondeo - DPF and oil warning 2.0 tdci 24 Sep 2011 (Forum)
  The web is full of experiences of this warning meaning that the oil needs changing asap because it has been contaminated as a result of failed dpf regenerations. This fits a little with my suspicions as the oil level seems to be a little high as though the car hasn't achieved the temperature to burn off during regeneration. I'd be grateful if anyone could shed any light on this, as at the moment I am not sure whether to wait to get it serviced in a couple of months time, or whether it needs an immediate oil and filter change and an ecu update.

  So I took it back to my mate who then refitted the pipe all was sounding good again He then said the casing of the turbo was hot which he the put a computer thing on it (sorry) Which came back with a dpf fault He tried to clear it but he says It won't go No management light on before or after diagnostic After reading all these forums I'm a bit paranoid to drive it as it might blow the turbo again he said to me but took it for a mot today passed emissions No problem Can anybody help me I really want to keep this car but not if it's eating turbos Thanks in advance

  Crinkly Dave got off the fence and bought one of these as I fell in love with the old 1.9 engine, and the new 1.6 was even quieter. Anyone know any links to explain how the DPF works, and any problems, as I know the Fiat version can have problems, as the "burning cycle" requires extra fuel, and if this does not turn off it has caused problems with sumps being filled with diesel.

  Picked car up on Thursday, on Tuesday sent off to two garages , both of them confirmed that car has been remapped and DPF has been removed , also minor suspension issues. I called the dealer, they picked up my car, left courtesy vehicle reassuring me that on policy provided by them I can still do my job - delivery driver.

  Had the car serviced before a trip to France in August £450 Kerching! The Ford garage informed that the DPF fluid needed topping up an extra £99 Kerching! At this point we had no idea what a DPF was and that the car had one! Off to France safe in the knowledge that the car was ok or so we thought. 800 miles in on came the engine warning light.

  I am new to the forum and would appreciate your advice please. My Captiva recently broke down. The DPF warning light came on and the car went into limp mode. I tried to do a regen by switching to manual and driving above 4000 revs. After a few minutes the engine started self-revving and making a horrible clacking sound.

  My car's EM light came on a couple of weeks ago - AA said it was a DPF issue. Tried regeneration the DPF myself but no joy, so took it to the garage. Garage have now discovered a damaged intercooler, leaking coolant (and leaking AC) afftecting the turbo, which is likely why the DPF regeneration was failing.

  They range from 2011 - 2016 & shuffle about the site on very short distances. I assume they all have dpf's & it's always fascinated me if they have any problems. l recently had the opportunity to speak with a couple of the drivers & the manager of the site, who stated they haven't experienced any issues with dpf's.

  My 2008 Peugeot with 40,000 miles had just cost me £4000 for a new Turbo and Engine becuase of this DPF thing. The fault occurred as a loss of power, no fault lights or any other warning sign that there was a problem. I bought the car second hand from a dealer who didn't offer any advice re DPF's, indeed it's not something I was aware of until I was without a car.

  I have a 58 plate Mazda 6 2.0L Diesel. I have had the dreaded dpf light come on and took it to the Mazda dealer. They advised changing the oil and filter and regenerating the dpf. I opted to change the oil and filter myself and return it for them to them to do the regeneration.

None of these guarantees were kept so much so that (i) the engine DID NOT run optimally after the DPF was removed & it DID have error faults; (ii) my vehicle DID smoke considerably & this was pointed out to one of his employees; and (iii) they DID hammer & chisel at my car's DPF!
