  • Ford C-Max - Small End Issues 6 Jul 2012 (Forum)
My 1.8 TDCi (2009 plate) car has completely died due to an engine problem with the gudgeon pin affecting the bearings. It has just over 69000 miles on the clock and is nearly 3years old. It has been serviced at 12435, 26873, 47132 (with a further two since then) and was due to go in for its service & MOT in June (where they identified a major engine problem).
  • Anyone seen anything unusual/fantastical/mad etc 2 Feb 2012 (Forum)
I had to start another of these threads as I saw a Lancia Delta this morning (doing a fair old lick on the motorway I might add).  I've never seen one before.  Funny looking; kind of somewhere between crossover and softroader size. I also saw a car with a badge I've never seen before - I had the distinct feeling it was American by the styling of the car.
  • Ford Focus 1.6 year 2000 auto - Cambelt damage 12 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Admittedly, the car is 11 years old but has a new MOT and in very good condition, only 65,000 on the clock and has been in the family for 6 years. What is a second hand engine?  Is it a factory reconditioned one?
  • Ford Mondeo Titanium X, 2.0 TDCi (2009 / 59 plate) - used Mondeo - high mileage for age... 25 May 2011 (Forum)
I'm just about to buy a Mondeo (2009, 59 plate Titanium X) and have found a few really top spec cars but with fairly high mileage (18 months old, c38-40,000 on the clock). the cars still have the 18 months left on manufacturers warranty, are HP checked and have FSH with a recent major service.
  • Toyota Corolla Verso - Low mileage - bearing gone 5 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Went for a test drive in a verso (main dealer) that had done under 35k miles and was 4 years old. Straight away I heard a noise like a wheel bearing along with the car stalling once and nearly stalling when coming up to lights, i.e. braking from 40 or 50 and then coasting in neutral from 5 or 10 mph.

  • Rust. 30 Dec 2009 (Forum)
No, it blinking well hadn't. The flipping jacking point had disappeared up inside the bodywork somewhere, and the car was slowly descending. Drat and double drat. The last time I saw such was when the N/S jacking point on an old Morris - a tubular affair with a rubber bung in the end to (try and) keep the muck out of it - actually fell off when a wheel was being changed.
  • Ford StreetKa (2003 - ) - 03 1.6 Wishbone bushes 5 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Is this common and will it need new wishbones? Car is just 4 years old, has 29k on the clock and light use only (one lady owner etc etc). Thanks Stuart
  • FIAT 500 (2007 - ) - Fiat 500 - the best spec. for re-sale 29 Jul 2009 (Forum)
To realise value from an old car I am considering buying a Fiat 500 under the scrappage scheme, which may then be re-sold quickly. Does anyone have any advice as to the best spec. (from the thousands possible !) and colours to assist in onward sales appeal ?

  • Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - Fiesta durashift, any opinions. 26 Jun 2009 (Forum)
On making enquiries they say it's got the Durashift, anyone got one, are they any good? I wasn't looking for an auto. Also is such a low mileage on a 4 yr old car a good or bad thing. The car is coming in to the dealer over the weekend from another branch so he couldn't tell me it's history. What should I be looking out for? Incidentally it's priced at £5889.
  • Toyota Yaris (1999 - 2005) - 2003 1.0 Keyed car 19 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Look around for an independent bodyshop who will often be hundreds cheaper than a main dealer. As this is a paint job rather than a crash repair / panel...
  • Motorcraft oil or Castrol GTX Magnatec 5 Jan 2009 (Forum)
What Gearbox oil do they recommend. Also what are the benifits of changing the gearbox oil. The car is only 5 years old and has got 32000 miles on the clock.
  • Pleasing fuel consumption 19 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I reckon 50mpg is pretty good for a car that pulls pretty well if you give it some wellie. There's a few people on here who are unhappy with their car's fuel consumption. Are there any others - like me - who are quite pleased with the mileage they are getting?
  • Ford - £5,000 to spend, which Ford estate? 7 Apr 2008 (Forum)
A mate is going self-employed, and most of his work will be for his old bosses who are in the US. He'll use the car for Dad's taxi runs, viewing the relatives, trips to airports and offices around the S of England etc. No regular commuting. He reckons he'll clock up 12k a year, he thinks he's best off with a petrol estate, and he really only wants Ford.
  • Renault - 2002 1.4 - Power Steering 25 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I have an old shape megane (2002) which has developed a problem with the steering. When the car is cold, the steering is stiff (very heavy). Once the wheel is turned, it clicks and the steering feels fine, except for this click which is still present.
  • Is the UK Driving license OK for Bosnia? 8 Feb 2008 (Forum)
The Bosnian border guards are meticulous, pedantic and gagging for any excuse to find fault at the best of times. The car hire company allows cross border rental for a fee so that's appears not to be an issue. My full driving license is the old paper type. Many thanks, Steve
  • New car after March. Budget: 8-9k 31 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Dear all, can you help? I am looking to change my faithful old PUG 406 1.8 to something a bit newer and a bit more up market. My requirements are as follows...
  • Import part ex values. 23 Jan 2008 (Forum)
I have an old-style Ford Focus 1.6 Ghia which I bought as an unregistered import from Motorpoint in 2005 - it is registered on an 05 plate. I recently went to my local Ford dealer to test drive a new Mondeo. When enquiring about my car as a part-ex I was offered £4400 for it & the salesman told me that if it was a UK car I would have been offered £5200 & that this is standard for imports.
  • London Congestion Tax 31 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I've seen signs that relate to Goods Vehicles etc, but a Land Rover 90 is getting horribly nearer a normal car in my mind... and as I drive an 8 yr old 3 litre petrol car that i'm planning on keeping, i'm getting a tad worried...is Red Ken after me?
