VW warranty issue 29 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Some of the 'soft feel' plastic trim on the driver's door is starting to break up (peel off). The car is less than three years old and still under VW warranty. However VW are saying that this is wear and tear and so not covered. The car has had a gentle life and has not yet done 36000 miles. Any comments on how I can pursue this. -
economical driving 31 Jul 2003 (Forum)
yesterday i took my astra 1.4 to manchester airport, I spent £6.50 on fuel,72p a litre and i covered 98 miles till the fuel warning light came on, on the motorway i was travelling an average 62 m.ph, i reckon for a petrol car with four adults my car gave about 45 mpg, question to you guys is it more economical to drive at a constant 60 than go flat out 80-90 mph, saving time, but would i still be driving economically at faster speed? -

Vauxhall Astra 1.6 - Spark Plugs And Coil Pack 31 Oct 2024 (Forum)
And because I went straight through to the AA using my own policy, they won’t cover any works done by them. My fault entirely I guess but you don’t always remember these things at 6am on a dark car journey with limited internet access and stress! My question is , does anyone think the coil pack and spark plugs would have been covered by the warranty or is it likely they wouldn’t have been? -

vectra v6 fan belt 14 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I had it changed and thought no more until four weeks ago the same happened, had it changed once again thinking perhaps a dodgy belt or just a coincidence but now 12 days later and about 300 miles covered this ones done the same. Obviously there seems to be a problem with one of the pulleys but there are i think seven to choose from, alternator, a/c, etc etc. Any help on this matter would be much appreciated as i don't wanna spend a small fortune on a car thats probably only worth 1500 quid tops and i'm too nice to sell it to someone with this problem without telling them. -
Filter change tip 9 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Just thought I'd share a tip with those of you who regularly do their own oil & filter changes. (It may have been posted before, but I haven't checked). If your car has an oil filter that points downwards, e.g. the open end is lower than the covered end, it is difficult to get the filter out without spilling the oil it contains around the engine bay. My wife's Scenic has this type of filter orientation and having spent ages in the past trying to mop up the oil spillages, getting my hands & arms snagged on all the pipes and connectors, etc., etc., I thought about a solution. -
