I filled the Picanto up with it today, just to try it. Said its 97 RON - how does it compare to the higher octane BP/Shell fuels? Is it infact one of those repackaged or is it something else? -

Cheaper petrol 30 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Shell garage on A417 near Fairford, Gloucestershire is down to 84.9 for unleaded and 90.9 for diesel. Seems nuts to put supermarket fuel in your tank when this Shell outlet can price match. Visit outside rush-hour when the queues have gone. -

Pipeline card???? 1 Mar 2006 (Forum)
http://www.pipelinecard.org/default.html Spotted this on another forum and did a quick search over here for info. Is this a genuine attempt to set up a fuel discount club in the UK for your average Joe Blogg motorist??? Perhaps we need HJ on the case to investigate???? -

There doesn't appear to be much difference in performance on paper between these two engines. has anyone driven both & know if the 2 litre is really worth the extra insurance fuel etc? Ta -

Where's the cheapest petrol/diesel? 3 Jun 2004 (Forum)
I live in south east london and with all this talk of price increases I thought we might be able to help each other by reporting where we can by our precious fuel as cheaply as possible,is that possible mods? -
Over a barrel, as usual? 26 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Isn't oil paid for in US dollars? And doesn't the pound buy about 35% more dollars than it did a few weeks ago? Shouldn't our fuel prices have dropped? (ok, maybe only by 35% of 20% of the total price) -
Vauxhall Zafira B 1.6 (55 plate) - Vauxhall Zafira warm start problem. 10 Jun 2018 (Forum)
It’s almost as though the car wants to use a fuel mixture unsuitable for starting because it thinks it’s still running at a steady 60mph. I think the EMU is getting stuck in some way. Warm starting issues on the whole generally seem to be ‘complete’ none starting eventually. -
Meriva A CDTi 1,7 diesel - spanner light fixed it 30 Oct 2017 (Forum)
Awfully cramped and fiddly in that engine bay Car still difficult to start so a new battery was put in and it starts just like new Last three fuel changes needed car to get a jump start, Maybe with new battery it will pull the fuel through and I wont need a tow Hope this helps as this problem had annoyed me for so long -
Volvo S40 - 2007 Volvo S40 1.8 Petrol - Emissions Through the 29 Oct 2017 (Forum)
Currently my theory is that the car is running very rich because of a lack of air getting into the combustion chambers as I've already tested the front heated lambda sensor and the voltage was within the range it should be, I've also taken a look inside the catalytic converter and that's fairly clean. I assume that if the fuel mixture is rich than it must be on the air side of the ratio as the car isn't putting out any black smoke which it apparently would be if the fuel was rich on the petrol side of things. Anyway my main question is: What would be the best way to diagnose if the fuel mixture is rich or not and if it is, where is the best starting point on diagnosing the which part is at fault? -
Citroen C5 estate 1,6 Hdi (2006) - Engine cutting Out 4 Apr 2016 (Forum)
However over the last few weeks, whenever i put fuel in it cuts out quite often when I try to accelerate or go round a sharp left hand corner. This improves after a couple of days and it runs fine, until I put fuel in again! The car starts well, ticks over smoothly but if you touch the accelerator pedal you get 10 seconds of revs then it dies, only to restart OK after 10 seconds. -
Vauxhall Corsa 1.3 diesel - Squeaking engine 2 Apr 2015 (Forum)
Drove for a wee while longer and then there was another "fluffing " type noise started- took it straight back to mechanic who immediately diagnosed it as a faulty fuel injector - checking this out and it was the case (actually two had gone) and so he put back refurbished fuel injectors and washers etc and hey presto - no more sqeak!! The sqeak noise had been the air pushing through the knackered fuel injector and then when it worsened, the second noise started. -
2005 VW Polo 1.2 - Running Problems 11 Sep 2014 (Forum)
- When I take my foot off the accelerator while cruising in whatever gear, the revs seem to freeze and take a while to start dropping...maybe this is new to me because the fuel filter is brand new and the fuel flow is stronger into the engine therefore the revs are staying constant longer? - When I go on the accelerator after changing gear, there is a slight delay before I have power. -
ford mondeo 2004 tdci 130 - 2004 mondeo tdci 130, fuel contamination help 21 Mar 2012 (Forum)
hello i am new to this site with a problem, i work in a back street garage and we have a mondeo which the cam shaft snapped, we sent it of to a diesel specilist to fix the car they put a new head etc on the car we got it back i notice it is filthy under the engine bay any way i jet wash it down, after the weekend the car was AA'd back not running the guy that repaired it came alone and re programed the injectors ( which were re placed with head ) and ran fine..... for 10 mins then was all lumpy etc, the diesel expert said it needs to be driven to learn, we did and still wouldnt behave, so the expert takes away, then sends it of to another company who stripped the injectors out and say it has water ingress in them and will need new injectors as well as inpection for the whole fuel system to see if there is any other water in system, and they have said that the water could have got there from me jet washing the engine as it would get in the top of the injectors??? ( sounds like a load of cr*p to me) can anyone help shed a light on how this could have happend? -
Honda - CBF 1000 motorcycle - smoky, and now won't start. 27 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Anyway on the return journey bike did not feel quiet right, like it was being restricted or holding back. when I returned home I gave the bike a good rev while idling...lo and behold I got the occasional puff of black smoke from exhaust. My first thoughts were contaminated fuel...so I emptied the tank with on of them suction pumps(the type you suck engine oil from car sumps without removing sump plug). I then got a gallon of fresh fuel and put it in the tank......tried it on the starter and bike refused to fire.....I eventually flattened the battery trying to start it, I have it on an optimate as I speak.
