Driving and phones ... 14 Aug 2002 (Forum)
I was getting pretty bored with the conversation, and trying to think of an excuse to get him off the line, when I heard the "woowooo" of a police siren over the line. "Oh S***, I've got to go," he said... Later he phoned me back - plod had nailed him R300 (ie 75 litres of fuel) for the offence... -

spark plugs 23 Feb 2002 (Forum)
About 3 weeks ago one of the Denso Spark Plugs fitted in my Toyota Carina 2 3 S-FE engine exploded. The centre porcelain core and centre electrode parted company from the screwed part of the plug which remained in place in the cylinder head. I have e-mailed Denso Europe and Japan but have not had the courtesy of a reply. -
Rover 400, appetite for light bulbs 19 Dec 2001 (Forum)
I have changed many, many bulbs front and rear during the 1 year of ownership of my P Reg Rover 400. A colleague with the same model (S Reg) has changed bulbs about 6 times. I see these cars running around in twilight with very often, one of the brake lights or side lights not working. Is this typical of this car or am I becoming paranoid ? -

Another oily question. 7 Mar 2001 (Forum)
I have another question to ask about oil. I have a Wolseley 18/85 'S' mk 2 on a 'K' plate. It uses 20/50 motor oil and it does burn a bit of oil. I have been offered a drum of 30/40 engine oil for free and i was wondering if it would do any damage to the engine. The engine is an Austin 1800 'B' series with a 3speed auto box. -
Six months with a Skoda 16 Jan 2007 (Forum)
missing? space is used up by a cubby and plastic covering for the seat mechanism so why no wide seats? It?s easy to get a good position behind the wheel likewise my passengers are comfortable too. The space in the back is much improved over the previous model although my daughter?s car seat still has to sit behind the passenger one. -

Too much power to be fun 23 Jul 2019 (Forum)
Having a wee shot of a friends Golf R the other day got me thinking, why are today’s hot hatches not as much fun as those built in the 80’s and 90’s? Am I wearing rose tinted specs or is it true that too much power, too much refinement and too much safety gear has diluted the appeal? I’ve driven several recent hot hatches including ST Focus, Astra VXR, Mk VII Golf GTi and Golf R plus a rare Volvo C30 T5 and I’ve found all of them left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. -

Peugeot 205 door jammed 27 Apr 2018 (Forum)
I recently had a problem with the front passenger door, on our 1988 Peugeot 205 GLD. I understand that this is a fairly common problem with ageing 205?s, therefore the following might be of help to somebody. The door jammed shut & wouldn?t respond to either the key or the internal release button. I took the door trim off from the inside & after much pushing, pulling tapping various rods etc: I somehow managed to free the door. -
