  • Car parking in rural areas 10 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Village high streets and even hamlets are often jam packed with residential vehicles, contractors, pavement parking. No yellow lines, no zebra crossings (especially at schools) and most important all- rarely a car park. Too expensive? why not make it fair and apply the same rules as in town centres?.There may well be wailing and gnashing of teeth but it's got to happen soon. Parking a car in a town centre is a headache as we all know but we reluctantly accept the rules of car park charges, metering, yellow lines, residents bays, time limits, no park zones -I could go on!
  • Vanderhall Venice. - Something for the weekend Sir? 3 Sep 2019 (Forum)
It looks well thought out and put together, I would like to see one in the flesh though. There is an importer in Belgium if anyone is desperate to get hold of one. It looks good fun but there's only the problem of the price - about £30K. https://vanderhallusa.com/autocycle/ Jay Leno on the Vanderhall with the designer/builder Steve Hall-  https://vanderhallusa.com/
  • Audi Q2 11 Feb 2019 (Forum)
Except a friend who owns one says there not quite cars and are loud i have not found this to be the case when test driving a few.  A quite car is important as i have a hearing problem and therefore need a quite car.  I did a db reading when test driving at it was 55db which is fine and i found this link which is similar to my reading http://www.auto-decibel-db.com/desktop.html.
  • Toyota CHR or Honda Hrv - SWMBO s Next car 14 Jun 2018 (Forum)
But we have a clear winner with the CHR which we tested in hybrid form with auto. Great looks which are so important to my partner and wonderful ride and seating , at least for the front occupants. Back to reality she wants to spend under 20k which pushes her towards the 1.2 T non hybrid manual. But does Toyotas reputation for unreliable autos continue with this model?
  • BMW 1 Series - BMW 66 plate M140i - air con failure due to stone? 13 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Given the car's age, and that it is has not been long since the model was released,  i am thinking of going down the not fit for purpose route as i cant understand how something so important can be so easily damaged by a stone. Has anyone had any experience of something similar?
  • Advice re buying a secondhand crossover 1 Jun 2017 (Forum)
We tend to keep our cars as long as possible and drive them into the ground, so value retention isn't important - in fact if they have lost a significant amount from new that would be ideal. We're looking for a decent spec'd version with as many bells and whistles as possible. We aren't bothered by make so that isn't a consideration.
  • Low mileage Older Car 28 Apr 2017 (Forum)
My concern is the exceptionaly low mileage.  I know there are variables but as a general rule is this a plus or minus or not important ?  Higher mileages are cheaper.  I realise no crystal balls available but is there anything expensive likely in the next 4 or 5 years ?  Anything to look out for ?  Any advice appreciated.
  • Recommendations on Estate for £3000 . 28 Feb 2017 (Forum)
I have been looking at Octavias - Honda Civics - Volvo V50 , Reliabilty and MPG are more important than gizmos or speeds but heard some horror stories with newer diesels . Current  car is a ford Fusion diesel that was bought at 85k and now just reached 150k but cost me a new clutch and Flyweek ( £700 )  - A couple of Leaking Injectors ( £300 )  - Shock Absorbers ( £150 )  in 3 years .

  • Mitsubishi - Vehicle Fails Day After Purchase - Buyers Rights? 5 Feb 2016 (Forum)
Person buys a 51 plate Pajero (import) from a dealer 150 miles away. Drives it home and next day head gasket goes; possibly due to heater matrix? It was taken to a local garage for an assessment and quote. The selling dealer was informed but he doesn't seem to want anything to do with it.
