Audi A3 + S3 (2003 - 2008) - A3 3.2 Quattro 11 Apr 2008 (Forum)
As some may know, ever since my Nissan 200SX landed me in a hedge on a wet slimey road, I have faffed around with trying to find something as exciting to drive, with 2 + 2 seating, luxury leather etc, but without the SX foibles. Preferably something 4WD. -
Back from Japan 19 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Just returned from a fascinating two-week 'fact finding' tour of Japan. I was mainly visiting components suppliers, but also managed to visit Nissan and Toyota car plants, including a Toyota design studio. Saw some absoutely brilliant engineering, including some stunning holographic instrument panels which are under development, and white LED headlamps from Stanley Corp. -
Thoughts from America 30 Sep 2005 (Forum)
A few years ago a visit to the 'states prospered very few genuinely interesting cars the average "yank tank" being a wallowing gas guzzler however it is clear now that there are some great cars available in the US that we do not see in Europe, the Acura (Honda's premium brand) TL and RL 4WD are great lookers and with 258 bhp 3.2 and 300 bhp 3.5 V6's they go a bit too. Likewise Infiniti (Nissan's premium brand) produce some great looking cars as do Lexus, particularly the 300 bhp IS350 that we do not, yet, get here. I have picked up a copy of Car and Driver mag where they test eight "sports sedans", OK the 330i wins, just, though notably the 9-3 Aero (new 2.8 V6) and S60R are beaten into 7th and 8th places by the IS350, Acura TL, Cadillac CTS etc. -

Dilemma of dilemmas of dilemmas 2 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Do the Hyundai and Kia 1.6 CRDi have a DPF? And then I found the the thread about Ethan Edwards's Nissan Note 1.6 petrol that he'd had converted to LPG by a reputedly-reputable firm. Seems as though if you can get a decent installation, there aren't too many drawbacks, and if the LPG system goes wrong, unlike a complex diesel going bang, you can usually just revert to petrol operation until it gets fixed. -
A nice wet Thursday night at auction... 21 Oct 2017 (Forum)
Nice cheap dinner in the belly I started sniffing round the metal on offer, two in particular that I'd came to view. One a lowish mileage blue 60 plate Nissan Micra and the other a 57 plate Hyundai i30 in red, both sounded good in descriptions but I should've known better when no pics were posted by the auction house who were clearly desperate to get bums on seats. -
False accident accusation - please help! 15 Dec 2013 (Forum)
I had had no accident and went out to check and my car was completely undamaged. I rang them to ask what this was about and they said that a cab driver had reported a blue Nissan (same as my car) pulling out of my road and crashing into his rear right hand side (causing damage and leaving his passenger 'shaken but unhurt') before driving off. I told them this must be a mistake as I had had no crash and my car was undamaged and they said to fill out the report and put my version of events and send it back to them. -
Mondeo - £1K family cars 13 Jan 2013 (Forum)
My current short list is: Ford Mondeo Vauxhall Vectra Mazda 626/6 Nissan Primera Toyota Avensis Honda Accord VW Passat Skoda Octavia BMW? Merc? Volvo? Now some rationale for them. I've had a Mondeo, it was comfy, it was reasonably powerful, good to drive and parts were cheap. -
1997 306XTDT d8A engine - XUD9TE Plastic filter problems solved. 1 May 2010 (Forum)
What a change. FINALLY on advice of the mechanic friend fitted a NISSAN particle filter into the fuel line to take out any condensation (WATER KILLS DIESELS). Now car starts and runs every time with ONE GLOW PLUG CYCLE> The little clicker fuel pump means you dont have to get out and squeeze that SILLY RUBBER FUEL PUMP. -
Ideas on an appropriate 4x4 6 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Land Cruisers hold their value well, LR's can be unreliable, not sure about the Jeep....which has left me looking at Nissan Patrol's, they're cheaper than Land Cruisers, but seemingly well built and reliable (the UN have enough of them).. how about a good specced Patrol to fulfil both criteria? What do you people think? -
SEAT Altea (2004 - ) - Altea in Provence (Road Test) 8 Apr 2008 (Forum)
The dashboard layout and controls were fine, and I liked the way that one accessed the various readings on the trip computer by means of a switch on the end of the indicator stalk. I might add that when I booked with Europcar, the category I chose was ?Nissan Note or similar? (CVMR - Compact Van Manual Air Conditioning ). I was quite curious as to what I would get, suspecting it might be a Kangoo, since it was not much more expensive than the cheapest category, and Europcar normally seems to give out Renaults - so I was a little surprised to get an Altea. -
Suggestions for a car please 14 Nov 2007 (Forum)
As a treat as a second car, as readers may know, I bought a Nissan 200SX turbo, S14 touring 3 weeks ago. this is why I loved it: great looks, stealthy, and in dark perlescant blue, a real head turner (yes I know this is subjective) gorgeous leather interior well kitted out, CD Changer, AIRCON, electric sunroof (after market fit), Good value, I found an immaculate example with 80K miles on it, R Reg, for under £4K.. lovely responsive automatic Smooth power delivery Fast cruiser as opposed to hard core sports appeal Exclusive, you simply do not see many around - I like that. -
New car shortlist - down to 3 21 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Ford C-Max 2.0 TDCI - nice to drive apart from having nowhere to put your left foot. Seat folding not brilliant and it won't hold its value very well. Nissan Qashqai - no opportunity to try one as the Reading dealer is changing hands and has cleared its stock. I wasn't attracted enough by looks or specification to go looking further afield. Glad to receive comments / opinions - even if not, I hope this may help others looking in the same area. -
US carmakers economy unchanged in 15yrs 24 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Ltd. and Volkswagen AG all make vehicles, mainly cars, that average between 23.5 mpg and 24.2 mpg, the EPA found. General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co., DaimlerChrysler AG and Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. all make vehicles, many of which are the most popular SUVs and pickups, that get between 19.1 mpg and 20.5 mpg. Since 1992, average fuel economy as measured by the EPA has been relatively constant, ranging from 20.6 to 21.4 mpg. -
Interest free 29 May 2024 (Forum)
Ask that question today and I’m at a loss to answer it, I really can’t think of a single car I really lust after. I mean I respect many modern cars, I like my C Class estate and same goes for our Nissan Leaf, both are very efficient and surprisingly quick but I’ve no real interest in them, I won’t be found out in the garage polishing them every other night like my dad did with his long line of interesting cars while I was growing up and I don’t just go out for drive for the sake of it anymore. -
Ford Europe Update 16 Apr 2019 (Forum)
Fiesta active - says it’s a good car but over priced, customers struggle to justify the finance offers compared to rivals such as on the Nissan Juke, Dacia Sandero Stepway and Suzuki, says Ford need to offer a base model. Fiesta - strong seller, strong number of customers trading from the old model to the new model despite price increases. -
Audi Q2 - first 1,000 miles 25 May 2018 (Forum)
Volvo XC40 - should I have waited for one of these? I managed to get a good long test-drive in one, and it felt wallowy, rather like a Nissan Qashqai. It went where I wanted it to, but in a rather remote, detached way. Everything done by touchscreen - boo, but there is voice control as an alternative. Still prefer proper controls for heating and AC. -
VW Passat/ Skoda Superb - VW 1.6 and 2.0 TDI Reliability? 9 Oct 2015 (Forum)
Of course i went first to check new Honda CR-V, but as i can see its too expensive (33000 eur here). Checked Nissan Qashqai, but feel a bit cheap (i have tried previous model, and not impressed at all). Also i saw Renault Kadjar.. I didnt know that is highest level of equpment and look nice, except the price (30000 eur), and when i checked more base version, very cheap looking inside. -
Nice day 15 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Then just as you get there having waited your turn in line some nice man in an Expedition with his hazards on and a government license plate followed by two Nissan Patrols with blacked out windows, no plates and sirens going decides he wants your place in line and shoves infront like you weren't there. If you accelerate away you risk losing it on a half-inch of black grease and either way you get an oily boot which not only slips off your footrest all the time but makes a mess of that nice Chinese rug and gets you an earful from the Ball & Chain when you get home. -
Auction visit 3 Apr 2024 (Forum)
Must not have worked out for the firm so they’re getting shot. Be interesting to see what they go for. Several Mk I Nissan Leaf’s were lying around looking pretty sorry for themselves. Clearly been doing laps of the hall and not found buyers. Dealers not interested. A 2015 Toyota Verso 1.6 diesel with 25,000 miles showing was getting interest from private punters but had clearly been clocked.
