  • Honda CR-V III (2007 - ) - Honda are doing deals right now 17 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I got over £1500 more than i expected for my Octavia estate and to make the deal even sweeter nearly £5000 of the CRV. I also took Honda finance at a great rate and i am also getting cashback. I got them to throw the elegance carpet mats in and gave them the order. You may ask who is this dealer. It is Westgate Honda Grimsby. The salesman i dealt with is called Ian and he informs me the deal is on until the end of the month.
  • Help me to pick the right car this time 22 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Am leaning towards a diesel estate - as being able to put buggy in lengthways would be a joy, along with other luggage. No finance outstanding on the Leon - I paid cash. I am undure what I would pick up part-ex - rear OS door has a dent in it which I have been quoted £600 to repair - but I have £1500 on top of what I will get in part-ex to purchese the right car this time.
  • One car two prices 13 Jun 2005 (Forum)
I had actually gone out to look at C1's, but they were too small: considered a new C3 Desire but having test drove the 54 reg SX on the forecourt, bought that for slightly cheaper, at £8495 before discount PX etc. I am happy with the deal, the finance and glad of the PX for my Octavia. £500 Deposit left. One slight problem was that i had a look around on Auto trader when i got home and found apparently the same car for £7,495 on the net. Not a different car, but the same one.
  • Main-dealer salesmen techniques? 29 Apr 2003 (Forum)
A nice car, it was though easily £1500 over A1 book. I told him I had a big deposit wanted about 50% of the price as Rover finance, had no part-ex and all the documents to sign up that day and leave a deposit. Would he haggle? No. He wasn't interested in my offer which was definitely nearer retail at £1000 less than sticker and didn't even want to counter-offer.
  • Imported "new" Car 5 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Began discussions with the new dealer on getting out of the PCP we were in and that we wanted to deal with someone else and would they help us get a new car The new dealer then informs us that the car is an import - and, although on a PCP has no finance outstanding ( news to me on both fronts ) so hpi is clear - although the check also reveals that there are no other details on the system for the car .. Anyway - the fact that we were sold an import ( not to our knowledge ) as a "new" car with only delivery mileage reduces the resale value also it is - in my opinion fraud on behalf of the dealer who sold it to us So my questions are this - what process would we need to follow to buy an import and therefore what documentation is missing and how do we stand as the consumer.... we have demanded all our money back and will take the matter further if needs be as this was a main dealer and the maths just doesnt stack up ....
  • Time to treat myself 2 Feb 2003 (Forum)
We're looking at R,S and T reg cars at places like the GTC or similar, up to about £4k (will be on finance). Likely candidates include Honda Accord, Toyota Avensis, Nissan Primera, Ford Mondeo. SWMBO fell in love with an 85k mile 98S Mondeo Ghia X 2.0 16v manual with leather, air and cruise for £3899 screen price last weekend, but now it's been sold.
  • VW - Can you trust Volkswagen dealers - a warning 30 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Had I been aware that I may be buying an ex-rental car I would purchased a Golf at a much cheaper price from "Arthur Daley" down the road, therefore, saving my paying a premium price at a VW dealership.  I made a complaint to VW finance, as I purchased the car on their finance package.  I also complained to the Trading Standards and the Financial Ombudsman.  After the threat of legal action the dealer accepted to have the car returned, and the finance HP agreement cancelled.

  • Mini cooper d - Used vehicle my rights on rejecting the car 16 Oct 2020 (Forum)
I have had a gut full nothing has been repaired from getting the vehicle so they have now said they will put a recon engine in but I'm not happy with paying for a car 5600 to now have a car with a recon engine. Finance company have said I have to allow them to do the repair but I have had it 8 weeks at the time of chain failure and I need some advice. Surely as they have not been forthcoming in getting other repairs done I'm within my rights to reject as car is not fit for purpose.
  • HJ Answer PCP 16 Mar 2018 (Forum)
You need to speak to a solicitor to empower you to handle your relatives affairs and authorise you as your relative's appointed representative. You can also raise a complaint with the Finance Company, then the FOS (ombudsman). First it supposes that questioner is the person that the relative would want to handle affairs but that is a minor point.   Its, “Contact the lease company and advise the vehicle has been mis-sold due to this.
  • Ford Fiesta Ecoboost - New Car, Innaccurate HPI check, damaged car 12 Jun 2017 (Forum)
Before purchasing the car, I paid for the Autotrader HPI vehicle check - the report came back clear, with no outstanding finance/write offs or anything untoward on the car. The car recently developed some problems, so I took it to the garage. They told me that the car had been in an accident. I took out another vehicle check on another website and this time the check came back saying the car was a Cat D.
  • Mazda 6 - Post Purchase Issue - Insurance/Previous Damage 15 Oct 2015 (Forum)
I took the findings back to the broker and dealer who supplied the car to me but they have washed their hands of it, saying it was sold as seen, i'd signed for it etc. I have contacted the finance company who have told me to raise a complaint, which I will. Where do you think I stand legally? I didn't (and wouldn't have) noticed the original bodged repair job when I bought it and it is only since I have had this accident that it has come to light.
  • Landrover Freelander 2 - Freelander 2 Negative equity on HP 24 Sep 2015 (Forum)
I think I could get close to the outstanding amount as a private sale but woudl then need to settle the finance first. The car is due tax and MOT at end of October and probably could do with new tyres over the winter so I dont know whether to just accept I was stitched up in the first place adnd cut my losses or perseve and hope that theres no big bills.
  • debts after death?? 27 Jul 2015 (Forum)
I always though that a persons debt died with them. He assured me he was not a guarantor(try explaining that one) and had no knowledge of the finances his mother managed. She could not access the trust fund cash, only the monthly payment, so presumably borrowed money when there was a shortfall. He still lives in the rented house they shared. I would imagine that there are some fine legal brains within the forum who can offer guidance on this subject.
