  • Astra 2016 Dashboard Lights Issues 22 Jul 2024 (Forum)
This morning I turned the ignition on to find that all the lights on the dashboard had seemed to turn off but after a few seconds they came back on. This was everything from radio, speedometer etc. As it seemed to correct itself, I drove off (car is running fine). Unfortunately while driving, every couple of miles it would happen again. One of my tyres needed pressure so I went to top that up, thinking maybe this was causing the computer to trip.
  • Ford Focus - Ford Focus squeak - video/sound 24 Oct 2020 (Forum)
See video here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/chkk9z02bmgq7e9/IMG-9551.MOV?dl=0 Very annoying on motorway or dual carriageways without radio on. At first thought this was the seat, have GT lubricated all the passenger seat side underneath no difference. However it does seem quieter the noise if a passenger is in the seat.  Appears to eminate from front of car or passenger side but can't pin point it.
  • New Speeding Fines 4 May 2018 (Forum)
I was listening to a talk radio station. An interesting caller phoned in for legal advice. He was caught speeding, going 9mph over the speed limit. He ticked the box and pleaded guilty, and paid his £100 fine.
  • Mazda 2 - Mazda 2 Parrot System 26 Sep 2017 (Forum)
I have recently purchased a Mazda 2 Takuya 2010, I have noticed that it has a Bluetooth system, I have researched that it is a Parrot System that came as standard, however mine is missing the Parrot device itself, I have the microphone, the radio controls on the steering and the Bluetooth connection itself, plus the cables connected in the glovebox. My question is, can I purchase another device to use? When I connect my phone with Bluetooth, I can call someone and talk however I have to control it with my phone and the volume is very low, I'm assuming the volume control is on the Parrot device, I call whilst driving on a regular basis so would love for this to work, if I buy a new device can it be connect back to the original system, if that makes sense.
  • Kia Picanto 15 plate - USB Port - is an accessory kit available 2 Dec 2015 (Forum)
Anyway they are going to 'look into it' and call me in a few days. Not confident of the outcome.... I am going to change the radio/CD for an identical one from Feabay so she's got Bluetooth which is very straightforward, but its the USB port kit that I need help on. Anyone working in a Kia dealers out ther have an idea?
  • Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - 2002 - dashboard cut out when cold 26 Jun 2015 (Forum)
When cold, my dashboard cuts out about 1-3 times. When I say "cut out", the lighting stays on but the dials, radio, indicators etc. all cut out. The indicators don't work and I don't think the brake lights work either. This cures itself when I switch the engine off and restart it. After about 20-30 minutes (i.e. when warm), the problem goes away.
  • Astra Life A/C 2009 Petrol 1598cc 2009 - Astra Life 2009 won't start 8 Mar 2015 (Forum)
It started again with a jump start but won’t start again using the key again. The electrics, light, Radio, CD player, etc. work. The battery voltage was slightly more than 10. He think the starter motor has failed.   Any help would be much appreciated, AR
  • Ford Focus ST - Ford SYNC. Phone Wont Pair 19 Dec 2013 (Forum)
The advice I've seen to obtain a 4 digit pin is to do the usual pairing then when the 6 digit pin displays on the screen you hit the ">>" button on the steering wheel, and this should show a 4 digit pin instead. I've done this and all that happens is the radio changes station and the 6 digit pin remains on show. Can anyone help who may of cracked this common problem please. SYNC is working, as my wife's phone paired successfully, though hers is newer than mine.
  • Ford Focus Saloon - Ford Focus Starting Problems 1.6 Petrol Auto. 9 Oct 2013 (Forum)
It only cranks as it starts, otherwise just a click!  Occasionally messing around with the electric windows or radio will actually get it to attempt to start more quickly (or so it seems). Any ideas please? Many thanks, M&C.
  • Ford fiesta Zetec 1.25 56 plate - Engine noise at higher speeds 9 Jul 2013 (Forum)
Wen driving at speeds of 50mph plus I have noticed a hum on the engine (sounds just like a vroom, vroom, vroom repetitively) the radio drowns out the noise but as this noise is a repetitive one should I be worried? I'm thinking I am used to driving 1.8 litre cars and it may just be the fiesta's make up but would like some advice from you lovely people!!
  • ford focus mk2 2006 2.0 petrol - Heater control panel removal 21 Feb 2013 (Forum)
Hi, I need to remove my heater control panel. I have removed the radio, and can now see the connections on the back of the panel. There is a cable connected to the back of the air direction control dial that I cannot remove. the cable has a large green collar that you can pull back away from the panel, but it will only come so far, as there appears to be some kind of hidden spring holding it on.
  • FIAT Ducato 2.5D 1998 - Electrics go mad, no headlamps 14 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Electrics are doing many wierd things.   During starting the engine power is cut to the headlamps and radio (normal behaviour).  Intermittently this power is being cut at other times: either for long periods, or momentarily when switching between dip and main beam. Sometimes the engine does not turn off when the ignition is turned off.
  • Vauxhall Zafira (58 Reg) design - Battery can't hold charge 12 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Once the car is stopped and left alone, with nothing on, there seems to be no problem, car starts fine every time. But if (as I have done twice now) put the radio on for 30 mins max whilst washing / cleaning etc, when you come to start the car again, the battery seems more or less dead. The central locking, ignition lights, indicators etc may or may light, starter motor clicks and will not turn.
  • Vauxhall Corsa C (2000 - 2006) - 02 1.0l Won't start 16 Mar 2012 (Forum)
Hi, I'm having nothing but problems with my wife's Corsa C. It's the 1.0l 12v. I drained the battery listening to the radio when doing work for it's recent MOT. I recharged and it ran lumpy, mis-fired at low revs and lacked power. Two days later I went to start it in the morning and it wouldn't even fire. I've checked for a spark and all three plugs are firing fine, also fuel is reaching the cylinders but it just won't fire at all.
  • Audi A6 3.2 FSI 2004 - Water ingress kills MMI 12 Nov 2011 (Forum)
My car has just been into dealer to have new disks and pads fitted. After leaving dealer and driving home the radio switched itself off and didn't come back on. Then i noticed the mmi system was off and would not come back on. Back it went to dealer. After diagnosis they said it was a control unit that needed replaced (£335) but after replacing the unit it still didn't work.
  • Rover 45 - Problems with car battery and starting the car 15 Sep 2011 (Forum)
Just some extra info that may be irrelevan but when i use the electric windows they seem to be going a little slower than normal and finally if i park the car and then use the radio or cd player while the engine is off, even for just a minute or two, the engine will not start again next time as the battery will be flat?   Is this problem the battery or something else?
  • MG TF - MG TF Engine Warning Light On 22 Sep 2010 (Forum)
I also disconnected the battery (for about 30 seconds) to try and reset the system but only succeeded in erasing the memory on the radio. Do I need to disconnect the battery for longer? Is the fault related to the long drive (such as something dislodged and blocking a sensor)? Is this a common fault? I would greatly appreciate any help.
  • Peugeot 406 (1996 - 1998) - 97 2088 Ignition Switch - Diesel 28 Oct 2009 (Forum)
It came to a halt with smoke emanating from below the steering wheel and further investigation showed that the visible wiring is all fine so feel that the ignition switch is the problem. My keypad is dead but some electrical items still work such as lights heater blower &radio. I have been told that this switch is now obselete but even if I obtain one from a scrap yard I will still need a Peugeot garage to make it recognise the keypad security system which adds greatly to the expense .
  • My car is ten years old. What am I missing? 26 Oct 2009 (Forum)
My first car was a 1959 Ford Popular. Side valve engine, 3-speed box, dodgy brakes, poor performance, inadequate heater, no radio, vacuum wipers. And it went to the scrapyard with about 70,000 miles on it having already had an engine change. Move forward about 40 years. I now have a 1999 Focus. Decent engine, 5-speed box, decent brakes, more than adequate performance, aircon, CD player and wipers that don't slow down on hills.
  • What happened to police controlling the traffic? 16 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Just got in after a horrendous journey caused by traffic lights not working at the intersection of the A1 and the North Circular Road. Both roads are tremendously busy at this time of day and the result is chaos. I heard on the radio traffic reports that the HAD been a problem with the lights, but this had been fixed, so I carried on my usual route, rather than avoid the area. The report was false - thanks Auntie Beeb - and when I got there I encountered (almost) gridlock.
