Ford S-MAX - S-Max reliability and the alternatives 3 May 2010 (Forum)
I've driven Peugeots for 18 years, and apart from the odd niggle they've always been fine. Is this another case of the reputation being worse than the reality? If the S-Max isn't the answer, is the reliability of any of the obvious alternatives (Grand Scenic, Mazda5, Touran etc) that much better? We also test drove a Mondeo Estate yesterday, but I guess the same reliability issues would apply. -

Ford S Max - Ford S Max Titanium - 150,000 miles - Worth buying 10 May 2013 (Forum)
Hi I've been offered the chance to buy a Ford S Max Titanium, 2007 with 154,000 miles on the clock. It is is Diesel. Went to see it yesterday and it looks ok, and has service history from Leaseplan. The CamBelt was changed 1 year ago, but the cost to do it was only £279 which to me seems a bit cheap therefore I don't know if this was a full CamBelt change or not. -

Seat Belts 10 Jun 2007 (Forum)
It\'s 20 years since seat-belt use was made compulsory , not that people should have needed compulsion . I have read that there\'s 90% compliance , but from my own observation I reckon it\'s quite a lot lower. -

It is 'standard' on the SE bt colud not get one at the time.. just upgraded an S instead to near SE spec. -
S-Type Jag- advice requested... 6 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I have a strong and possibly illogical compulsion to buy an older S-type. Could any S-type owners or similarly experienced backroomers either talk me out of it, or stoke the flames of my desire, as it were? Budget's about £6k, though this could be stretched a fair bit, given sufficient desire-stoking. -

Air Con trouble - Daewoo Lanos 23 Feb 2004 (Forum)
A reputable local garage/dealer partially recharged it and did a dye test and asked me to bring it back to them 2 weeks later. In the meantime, the air con worked but again it emptied after a month (so there\'s definitely a leak somewhere) but they tell me that the dye is fine and theat there\'s no trace of a leak. Given the low value of the car, I am not sure it\'s worth asking them to investigate further but nonetheless I\'d like to know, it might just be worth it if it\'s less than £200 to fix it. -
