This isn't an automotive issue but I couldn't think of another forum where I could ask it. Anyway, as far as I can see a tuboprop is basically a jet engine...

  • Met GRowler 1 Aug 2004 (Forum)
(This began as GRowlette\'s thread about her anticipated visit to England, but has now developed into one about a July Backroom Meet, possibly, and appropriately, at the revamped ACE Cafe.) Eight days to go and we get to UK. My Big One he tells me to share the driving.
  • Suicidal birds 29 Jul 2004 (Forum)
This leaves the driver, especially if he is being followed by another vehicle, with no option other than to plough on, with fatal consequences to the bird(s). Distressing to the driver and passengers, too. What do you do in such a situation?
  • Passat Diesel Exhaust Cost 23 Jul 2004 (Forum)
My Dad has a 97 R Passat diesel saloon, and the exhaust has just gone.He\'s been quoted £400 for a new system, not fitted. Surely this is a tad expensive for an exhaust to buy and take away? He lives in Gateshead,so if anyone knows of a cheaper deal than the above in the Tyneside area, then tell me where.

  • Wrap up your engine to save fuel 8 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I see that a German professor at Cologne Tecnical College has developed a new thermal jacket for a car`s engine, that is claimed to save 5% fuel even during the summer months, apart from the obvious benefit of quieter running. It seems one of the prestige German manufacturers will be the first to fit this option.

  • Berlingo dancing gauges 26 Jul 2003 (Forum)
My two year old berlingo\'s dash has recently started playing up. On startup, the needles and gauges randomly bounce up and down and the clock resets itself. Its as if the pwr supply to the dash is intermittant. I have checked all the fuses and wiring as far as I can.

  • No aircon, rover? 6 Jun 2003 (Forum)
Hi, I have a Rover 420 SLDi 98(S). It was serviced at a main dealer last week. Just tried the aircon & it doesn't seem to be working. I think the system is 'operating' but not cooling the air. The only visible evidence of anything dodgy is a small amount of green fur around the aluminium pipes around the low pressure service connector.

  • Oil colour 19 May 2003 (Forum)
When the colour of engine oil changes from clear to brown does that mean it\'s absorbed as much muck as possible? The reason I ask is that I change my oil & filter regularly - every 5k to be specific. I rarely use the car for short-distance My oil changes to brown within a matter of weeks of the change!
