  • VW Transporter T6 - Total Engine Failure - Bought from VW, VWFS 12 Sep 2023 (Forum)
The van was recovered initially to an independent local VW specialist who delivered the sobering news of a 9k bill. They still have finance with VWFS if this helps the situation. Surely there must be some comeback on the quality of goods supplies - who on earth would ever buy a vehicle for such money and expect a 9k bill 18 months into ownership.
  • Looking for older joyful car 21 Mar 2023 (Forum)
And I bought the cheapest car that my mechanic had - focus 1.8 petrol. And the joy was gone..I need powerful (cheap, not on finance) car, that will have a quick reaction, fast pull, strong uphill, spacious boot. I was looking for above 2008 Mondeo td, but, reading about dpf, and only averaging 15-20 miles per day (city, bypass mostly), it's probably not a good idea.
  • BMW i3 Nissan Leaf - Replacement Car - Possibly EV 10 Apr 2020 (Forum)
So I have handed my car back to the finance company. As we are in lockdown I thought, that it would be best to hand the car back and save a couple of grand, as I had two years left to pay on an HP. Also with some money saved I could use that as a deposit.
  • Accidentally sold a clocked car.... 26 Sep 2019 (Forum)
This was before I owned the car. He want me to take the car back.... i am completely innocent and don’t have the finances. I appreciate his side however a part of me thinks a trader should be checking this kind of thing before buying?! anyhow what should I do/what are my rights?/ I bought it through a private sale myself- they seemed decent enough people at the time..... your help and advice will be most appreciated....
  • Used car background checks 18 May 2019 (Forum)
I have found one of interest and I am not sure if I should get a background check done. As part of the garages sales blurb they say "To ensure the vehicle has no outstanding finance and isn't stolen or written off, we carry out extensive vehicle background checks including the history and mileage prior to sale." But on the windscreen of all their cars is an optional extra of a background check for £99 +vat.
  • Seat Leon - Buy a Golf Mk7 Face Lift or Seat Leon FR? 14 May 2018 (Forum)
Golf alittle more refined / quiet, and higher residuals but Seat very capable and more fun? It’s tough. I like them both. I’m buying car for long run / outright, so no pcp finance and changing in 3 years. Any objective opinions welcome. Thanks.
  • Nissan qashqai - Broker4cars- anyone used them? 22 Nov 2016 (Forum)
I have chatted to them and can pay my deposit by credit card and the balance can be funded by a further down payment and HP with a company called motor finance. The car will not be ore reg and I will be the first reg owner and not car of. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I have not bought a car since 2006 and I purchased that from a local dealer.
  • Cancelling lease car contract before it starts 14 Jan 2016 (Forum)
I contacted Ling to see if I could get out of it and although I have signed her contract only and not the finance company's she said I would need to pay £500 because it is a factory built car and there was no way out of it.  I wish I could keep the contract but so many things have happened and I don't think I could afford it anymore, does this sound resaonable, is there any way I could get out of paying or get it lower?
  • Subaru Outback - The age old question 21 Sep 2015 (Forum)
Hi all - apologies if this is getting repetitive but I will soon be in the market for a new motor and have pretty much decided on a Subaru and an Outback if I can make the finances work. The logic behind my choice is that I do a bit of country pursuits so the AWD will come in handy from time to time and I like their reputation for longevity. The question is what fuel and gearbox type should I go for.
