Ford Mondeo - Trip Computer 14 Dec 2011 (Forum)
Don't take to much notice of trip computers before you have checked them out by noting down the TOTAL mileometer reading, filling the fuel tank up, doing the miles, topping the fuel tank up again, then deducting the last mileage reading from the present reading, then dividing the answer by the gallons used. Do this several times to check out the trip meter fully. -
dealer parts price rip off 15 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Just wanted to share my experience recently of getting parts. I was told I needed a new fuel pressure regulator for a bosch fuel pump. Peugeot wanted £300. I thought about cutting the middle man out and going straight to bosch. I managed to find a local distributor off the bosch website and found one for £98. -
Citroen Berlingo Multispace - Poor running/misfire/?running on 3 28 Aug 2010 (Forum)
Berlingo 2.0hdi (June 2002) 90bhp got a bad misfire, sounds like running on 3 , has siemens injection system, had new injection pump 8 months ago, have changed fuel filter, we seem to have very little pressure out of the high pressure side of the injection pump to the common rail, have removed feed pipe from common rail , seem to have very little fuel delivery out of pump when cranking.Could it be electronic problem with pump, ie partially opened solenoid, or could pump be faulty. -

Hyundai Santa Fe II (2006 - ) - HJ Road Test 16 Nov 2009 (Forum)
A friend has the 2006 version and is very happy, although given his level of extra urban driving I am surprised at the comparatively poor level of fuel economy he gets. Given the amount of urban driving I do, I would really like to know the urban fuel consumption, not just the combined figure. Can anyone help? -
Diesel cars in the US 21 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Does anyone work with cars in cold countries or test them? Could an additive be added easily like FSII in aircraft fuel? I think diesel and aircraft fuel are fairly similar. I've driven a few diesel but nowhere really cold. -
Silly speed limit increments 3 May 2009 (Forum)
I'm talking about the proposed 20mph limit the government wants to implement in its policy of continuous regression. Why 20mph? how do you do that, then? Stay in second and use almost as much fuel as a '68 Charger or chug along in third and budget for a new DPF every few weeks? Why not 25mph? While we're at it, why not have 35mph, 45mph and 55mph (35 being a sensible urban speed that doesn't make you feel like you're standing still) and 55 instead of 50 will be better for fuel economy and the environment. -
Skoda Octavia II (2004 - ) - 08 1.9tdi unknown beep that can't be identified 7 Mar 2009 (Forum)
The car is currently at the dealer who is scratching his head. When turning right the beep which sounds for low fuel / low temp etc sounds. Sometimes sounds on the straight. Only thing logged on the computer is an intruder alarm - different beep. When it beeps there is NO warning light on the dash although these still work (I got low fuel and the right turn beep within seconds on Friday - same beep). -

Invoice as follows: "Investigate noisy running fault. Replace spark plugs. Labour: 1 hour @ £45 Set of plugs: £9.40 Fuel line cleaner: £9.60 Total: £64 + vat" My question - is "fuel line cleaner" a legtimate cost??? I didn't ask for it, in fact garage did all work without quoting or getting the go ahead from me. -

And then, for no apparant reason it refuses to start the next time it is used which is often only a few hours later. The engine turns over no probs and there is always plenty of fuel. After a number of attempts to start and after a bit of waiting, the car will suddenly spring into life. I have read that it could be the fuel injection pump. Does anyone have any ideas please? -

Ford S-MAX (2006 - ) - Turning your engine off at traffic lights? 16 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I?ve often heard that to start a car?s engine requires more fuel than leaving it running at a set of traffic lights for a short while? Is this true? If you have a warm engine, why does it need ?extra? fuel to start it? If this is true, how long would you need to be waiting at the lights before it becomes more economical to turn the engine off and re-start when the lights go green? -

Saving weight 13 Apr 2007 (Forum)
There are lots of suggestions re reducing the number of items carried in order to impove fuel consumtion. Other ideas range from a personal diet to only half filling the washer bottle to carrying minimum fuel. While I was reconfiguring the Focus for max load I needed to remove the rear head rests. -
406 110bhp hdi 25 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I was wondering if the mpg will increase with more miles and if theres anything that can be done to get the most out of his fuel like changing to fully synthetic oil etc? He does around 35,000 miles a year so it makes a big difference to the fuel bill. cheers -

But no problems when foot put down. (pulls away fine). But I have recently notice that one of the injectors has diesel fuel in the wells around it. Cleaned the wells up and fuel came straight back. Took to garage told needed new injectors. expensive job. Is it possible it just needs new seals and would this fault cause the above problems Thanks for any help Ian.
