SEAT Ibiza II (1993 - 1999) - How to determine what's draining a battery 2 Jan 2008 (Forum)
I've recharged it, but not yet got round to working out how long it takes to drain. I've checked the usual - radio, interior light etc... How can I find out where the short is? -
M40 and Oxford -nightmare today 20 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Yes it was bad on the way up, but the return journey around Oxford was a nightmare I have never seen so many lakes and stranded cars as I have today, along the A40 between Witney and Burford, and all surrounding "short cuts" there were roads cut off and 50 cars swamped. Also heard on the local radio, a German police officer came out of a pub in the Oxford area, and turned into what he thought was a flooded road, only to disapper into a canal- whose got the full story -
Roadworks on M1...Advice needed please 20 Jul 2007 (Forum)
M6 is always a pain but, in particular, I wonder what awaits me on the M1 in the region of Junction 8? I regularly hear references on Radio 5 to The Roadworks in that vicinity as if they are something permanent :o( What sort of delays am I likely to encounter there? I will not be travelling in the rush hour but I suppose most times of day are rush-hour-ish the nearer one gets to London! -

Farewell to Cassettes 12 May 2007 (Forum)
Do we all remember compiling our favorite driving tape? Can anyone explain why some car companies still insist on placing radio cassette players in their base models. It must be costing them more to buy these than the standard cd player. Am I being cynical in assuming that this is merely there way of punishing you for buying the base model. -
Citroen Saxo 1.6 VTR - Ignition Switch 17 Apr 2007 (Forum)
The electirc windows work intermittantly. The steering is heavy for a short distance then it returns to normal, at this point the radio and heaters also start to work. I took it to a garage and they said the electic ignition switch needs replacing (at first the said the alternator), at a cost of around £250. Does this sound right or could anyone help? -
Citroen Xsara Stereo 15 Mar 2007 (Forum)
As best as I can I have checked the connections, both going into the unit and also into the back of the stereo itself and I have also changed the fuse. In addition to this the steering column mounted remote controls don't work either. The main radio Any ideas? My wife would love to listen to her cd's and it would give me a quieter life as well! Many thanks -
Emissions 11 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Did anyone listen to radio 2 at lunchtime today. They were having a discussion about emissions comparing car and aircraft emissions (I think this was on the back of Tony Blair saying that he would continue flying to his holiday destinations). -

'03 Fiesta 1.4 Zetec - road noise? 4 Apr 2006 (Forum)
The pitch doesn't change with speed or road surface. It's just there in the background all the time and turning up the radio doesn't help. Admittedly it hasn't got any worse in 6000 miles but, with the warrantee about to expire, can anyone assure me that this is normal for this model. Thanks Howy686 -
Jaguar xj40 19 Oct 2005 (Forum)
The problem is that the warning buzzer won't go off, It came on yesterday morning & is still buzzing 26hrs later. Whilst it is buzzing my indicators, rear demister, hazards, front & back foglights, radio & interior lights don't work. No faults appear on the dash when the VCM button is pressed & it is starting to hack me off. It done it once at the weekend for about 10 mins, again no indicators etc during this, but when it stopped of it's own accord I had indicators etc again. -
97 Clio - Immobiliser problem? 17 Oct 2005 (Forum)
I managed to get into it using the remote but when I tried the ignitition the immobiliser light was flashing and the engine wouldn't turn over....it was just completely dead...total silence. The radio wouldn't come on and the lights on the dashboard kept fading. The central locking wouldn't work with either of my 2 remotes so I had to lock the doors manually. Any ideas??? Could it be the battery? -
2003 Peugeot 206 1.4 - wind 'squeaking' 14 Oct 2005 (Forum)
I have a rather annoying problem with a 'squeaking' sound that seems to come from the passenger side of the vehicle when driving between 50-75mph. The 'squeeking' can be best likened to the sort of noise radio or mic. feedback would give although not as loud. I think it may be the wind flowing through door seals but can quite pin down where from. I guess it is still there over 75mph but the road noise begins to mask it. -
Wife sells DJ's car on ebay 23 Jun 2005 (Forum)
The wife of DJ Tim Shaw, Hayley, got so irritated by his flirting with model Jodie Marsh, during a radio interview, that she decided to exact revenge by selling his Lotus Esprit on ebay. She offered it for 50p. I don't know what it sold for eventually but it obviously didn't take long for offers to start flooding in. -
Omega Sat-Nav 13 Oct 2004 (Forum)
I've ordered a new switch for it. But just wondered if it could be anything else? It's a Philips Car-In system. Screen next to radio (built in), and CD-Player located on-top of the transmission tunnel in the rear. The switch itself is next to the handbrake. Any ideas? Cheers -
Octavia with 4 aerials 10 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Was overtaken on M8 today by an Octavia Estate which had 4, or maybe even 6, small stubby aerials on its roof in a rectangle shape. It also had a phone aerial on front windscreen and the radio aerial at rear of car. Any ideas what these would have been for and what the car was used for? The aerials were similar to what you sometimes see on traffic cars except they weren't as tall. If it was some sort of GPS type thingy then why does it require 4 aerials instead of the 1 that most new cars have? -
Blaupunkt Verona poor MW/LW reception 13 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Hi Gang - Mrs V's Skoda Felicia has a Blaupunkt Verona radio cassette which has been working fine until today. The MW & LW reception has suddenly become very poor. With the engine running there is too much electrical (?) interference to hear anything. With the engine switched off, stations which used to be clear sound poor with quite a lot of background noise. -
Music storage device 31 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I recently saw reviewed in one of the broadsheet papers a device which enabled you to store 300 Cd's onto a hard disk which could then be linked to your existing car radio/CD player. In effect, it acted as a CD changer but held hundreds of CD's rather than a handful. You record the CDs via a USB connection on your computer directly onto the hard disk. The hard disk would then be fitted into car in the same way as a CD changer. -
installing window glass 7 Oct 2002 (Forum)
My Sister's G Reg Golf was broken into last night and her radio stolen. They got in through the passenger rear window (not a 'wind-up' window, just a plane glass window). They have "kindly" left the undamaged glass pane but the rubber window seal is damaged.
