National Tyres oil changes 21 May 2005 (Forum)
Noticed that they are doing good offers on oil and filter changes at the moment. Its £10 for mineral, £15 for semi-synthetic, and £20 for fully synthetic. Looks like they've knocked a fiver of the price of each, but only until 31st May (but they sometimes seem to have these offers on-going!) -
oil changes 13 Mar 2003 (Forum)
The car , when used, is driven high into the rev limit. Would it be sensible to have regular 6 monthly oil changes. -

I am looking for a liquivac(DIY oil change without crawling under the car). This is a purpose built piece of kit-reservoir,vacuum handpump & tubing that slips down the dipstick into the sump. I havent seen this accessory for sale in this country. -

Any - HJ's Saturday Telegraph annual oil change advice 10 Dec 2016 (Forum)
Oh dear, I've just read the 'car' section to find yet again the dogma of annual oil changes every year irrespective of mileage. Reminds me of the mindset of ignorant American mechanics whose advice for 3,000m changes persisted into this century. My 1980 TR7 which now does only a few hundred miles a year has had a mere four oil changes since its semiretirement in1990 and is none the worse for it, its well made engine using virtually no oil at 70,000m. -

Semi synthetic and synthetic oil 9 Mar 2004 (Forum)
My VW Passet 1.8T has had synthetic oil for nearly 100,000 miles. The dealer replaced it with semi synthetic at the last service. I queried this change and was told that semi synthetic is the correct oil. I have heard that changing from semi synthetic to synthetic can take away carbon deposits and increase oil consumption. -
Oil change, x miles/1yr, whichever comes sooner 26 Apr 2013 (Forum)
I was disappointed to se HJ peddling this dogma in the Telegraph. For the Aunt Minnies of this world it is an expense they can well do without. I changed the oil and filter in my TR7 in 1989 [51,000m], 1993 [56,000] 1997 [58,000] and 2002 [60,800]. It still runs perfectly and I shall change it this year [67,000ish] when it gets a bit warmer. -
Volkswagen Sharan (1995 - 2009) - Sticking turbo 29 Sep 2010 (Forum)
I have a Sharan TD. Twice last year and once last weekend the turbo stopped working. It had an oil change between the incidents btw. This weekend I towed a caravan for the first time ever when it did it. Can I assume that burnt carbon deposits are lodging in the bearings? Would an oil change and using flushing oil help? -

2007 Hyundai Santa Fe - 1 QT LOW ON OIL CHANGE 28 Jun 2013 (Forum)
My Santa Fe has 20000 miles and the last two oil changes at Walmart indicates one qt low on pre check. I don't drive it very much due to disability, but when I do I drive long enough on hwy to get it to proper temp. I don't have a leak so where is the oil going?
