Coach - false claims of leaving the scene of an accident 26 Jan 2015 (Forum)
I am a coach driver and i have received a letter from the police sayinng i had been reported for leaving the scene of an accident and careless driving, on the day in question i was indicating to turn right onto another road, i initially stopped due to traffic coming towrds me, i had a clear view of the the road i was turning into and could see it was clear of any traffic , a car flashed me to allow me to turn into the rd wich was still clear, about 20 yards up that rd was a left hand bend, as i initiated the turn a car appeared the front end of my coach was into that road the car kept coming towards me, at which time i stopped i was obstructing the junction to that rd also the rear of the coach was obstucting the rd i was exiting, the car was preventing me to move any further, the passenger of the car was ranting and raving telling me to reverse back out that was not an option, eventually the driver of the car reversed back, the way he reversed gave me the impression he could not drive he was weaving all over when reversing back, this allowed me to move forward or so i thought this driver decided to drive forward again preventing me from moving forward any further, the car then squeezed past me so i carried on to the coach park which was on this rd, when i got out of my coach to open the coach park gate, these two guys appeared behind me, the passenger got out of the car shouting foul and abusive language to me calling me names then saying i had hit the car, i replied if their is any damage on the coach it was the driver who caused it, then i invited this guy to inspect my coach for any damage which their was none not even the slightest of scrapes looking at the damage on the car which was the rear wheel arch it would have been impossible for me to have struck the car without causing significant damage to the car (the damage to the car was only slight) and the coach, this guy declined to look at the coach and when i said i would call the police he got back into the car their drove off, i parked the coach in the coach park and sat there for an hour fear they may come back, rather than walk i got a taxi to my hotel, why i didnt call the police was beyond me i know that i should have done so, the coach was displaying in the window the hotel i was staying at, this happened on the Saturday the coach was in that coach park until 10 o'clock Sun then parked back in there at 1 o'clock sunday afternoon until 9 monday morning which was the day of our return, i received the first letter on the 29th oct 14 which i responded to saying i was the driver, i then received a second letter to produce my documents on the 11th Nov 14 i done that immediatley, from then until 21st of January 15 i received a letter asking me to complete a statement concerning the so called collision, at the bottom of the letter it says -: i do not wish to complete the attached statement concerning the above mentioned collision and underneath that i did not witness the collision, it says its important to send either the completed statement or the prior mentioned section as soon as possible could you please advise me yours sincerley Ron -
Ford Focus - Double Yellow Line Length-Is There A Legal Length? 2 Feb 2023 (Forum)
The Council insist it has to be that long, by law - but in later emails they just took to ignoring me when I asked which Law - then denying everything including the Petition the local Residents Association handed in, of around 40 people - nearly someone from every english speaking house in the street - and that they'd ever had a Disabled Parking Bay Application from me - inspite of 2 other Applications being refused because of 2 Objections from my vile neighbours, because it would stop them parking in front of our gate. So right now - I fear this is a losing battle - but I have to try - and in order to try - I need to know if there is a legal requirement for length of road lines to stop parking, on corners of T-Junctions. -
Mazda 3 - Getting fed up with this!!! 16 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Took car back to the dealer again and it was the same explanation. No fault recorded and Mazda had released another software upgrade. - Starting to think Bill Gates is a shareholder in Mazda!!! Over the next month or so the same problem moves from being intermittent to persistant, but with two new symptoms. The temperature gauge never moves of the cold extreme, and the glow plug waring light stays on until you start the engine. -
Vauxhall/Audi/Seat - Changing my 2 cars 27 Feb 2015 (Forum)
Audi Q3 - This gets traded in next saturday for an A4. It is financed on a PCP deal and IO had little intention of changing it. A call from the dealer offering me an A4 1.8TFSI 170 SE Technik for the same monthly payment and a noticable reduction in the Final payment compared to the Q£ swayed my mind. -
Bikesafe ramble 17 Sep 2006 (Forum)
The knowledge that I hadn't made a total cock-up of the ride so far helped me relax and, barring some nervous horses in Helmsley and a Peugeot driver who U-turned in front of me near Chop Gate, the rest of the run was completed without incident at, erm, slightly more than the nsl. We did over 80 miles in a little under 2 hours including a 10 minute stop for a review and advice so we weren't hanging about. -
Nissan Micra (2003 - 2010) - does the dealer have to fix my car? 9 Dec 2009 (Forum)
The mechanic confirmed this & said another reason this was apparent was because it was possible to see that the tail gate had been replaced. The manager said that either the work had been done prior to my buying the car (that sales people might as well be selling fruit & veg as cars for the amount they knew about them) or whilst at the garage while it was being repaired (assuming there had been an on site accident). -
DIY Transport Policy 4 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Increase motorcycle parking provision, and consider providing dedicated ?small car? parking bays in cities. 2. No stopping zones within 400 yards either side of school gates ? improves safety and discourages parents from driving their children half a mile to school instead of making them walk. Police to patrol the area when children coming in or out of school ? both to enforce the no stopping zones and to persuade parents that their children are safe to walk on the streets. 3. -
Had An Accident Today - Uninsured Pilloc 25 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Hello, Drving along in nose to tail traffic earlier today in my home city with the Mrs and daughter - a car ran into the rear bumper on our newish AudiS2. The fool had parked at a rightangle to the road in front of some close gates and as we passed, it started revesing slowly, we had to stop as it was stop start traffic - the guy crashed into our car and make it wobble and loud bang - the damage appeared hefty as its our car and cost us a lot, well a lot to us any way. -

Economy overall for about 1,000km has been 30mpg, which is not bad for a heavily laden, automatic, large petrol car being driven at speed and with a bike rack attached to the tail gate. I just know that the journey in the S-Max would have been no slower, more economical, more comfortable and probably safer. The PHEV version of the Outlander was on my radar for a short while. -
BMW X1, Mercedes GLA, Audi Q3 - X1 vs GLA vs Q3 8 Feb 2016 (Forum)
Standard kit also feels a little spa*** especially on the SE trim, you get auto lights/wipers, 17 inch alloys, rear parking sensors...think that's about it. Things like Sat Nav, Power Tail-gate, Cruise Control which are standard on newer cars are optional extras here. And the Panoramic sunroof costs about 1400£ (because you need to combine it with LED interior lights package!!!????) So, that's what I found on these 3 cars, from similar class. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 2004 TDCi 130 boot release mechanism malfunction 26 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Without much option, I agreed and had to take it back today for them to fix. £100 later, I have a working tail gate release mechanism again. I can't fault the dealer. They replaced the part and it fixed the problem (maybe the previous random opening issue was a portent...). Crucially, I said I wanted the faulty part back (and I had marked it to make sure that they did in fact replace the unit like they said they had to - and they were honest, because I got back the marked part in the box that the new one had been in. -
Choosing an MPV 14 May 2007 (Forum)
Never liked that, and was surprised they kept that when they went to Mk II. Too ?mumsy? you simply see too many of them at the school gates. We wanted something a bit more distinctive. What else did we look at: Honda FRV, only seats 6, not really capable of taking 4 adult sized and two smaller ones regularly, just too small. Same with Fiat Multpla. -
letter from the colonies vol 14 18 Aug 2006 (Forum)
At last his name is called and the treasured piece of plastic is in his hand. Time to go home. At the gate a vendor sells little plastic wallets for your licence. A red one for truck, bus and taxi drivers marked "Professional Driver" and a green one for the hoi-polloi marked "Unprofessional Driver". I buy William a green one; he is not amused.
