• BMW V8 Cuts Out 1 Aug 2003 (Forum)
  When starting the engine (generally when it is between hot and cold) the engine will fire as normal, run for a few seconds and then cut out. Often it can take 3 or 4 restarts until the engine will run normally. Then, as at all other times, the engine runs perfectly. When the fault occurs, holding the throttle when starting will keep the engine running, but it dies as soon as the throttle is released.

  Volkswagen Transporter 2000 1982 The car is in first class order and the engine has only done 81,000 miles in 21 years. When starting it after some 5 months rest, the engine runs evenly when idling, but has no power whatsoever when driven. It will start off normal but as soon one accelerates it, it looses power and would not drive faster than 40m/h, showing an uneven run with slight backfiring with foot off the pedal.

  Hi I am wondering what is the cheapest to run used car for under £5000?   When I say cheapest I mean in terms of very low Road Tax, Insurance Group, Maintenance costs and MPG also one that is known for reliability?     It seems a minefield these days unless you are car savvy.
