Parking scam in High Wycombe? 15 Nov 2014 (Forum)
Hi I packed in the Eden shopping centre in High Wycombe on the weekend only to come back to my car and find a 60 quid fine on the window from UK Parking Control because apparently I was "not parked correctly within the markings of thr space". These markings were yellow lines about 9 inches thick on either side and I was about 1 inch over the left one. -
Motorway service station time limits 6 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I've read or seen something recently (can't remember where, thought it might have been Watchdog, but 'the boss' says she doesn't remember it) about a chap who parked in a m/way service station when driving from Cornwall to Scotland overnight and copped a fine because he stayed in a service station car park for more than 2 hours whilst having a nap...was zapped on a camera. -
VW PASSAT 2.0TFSI - 2006/56 - Passat Parking brake fault 27 Sep 2011 (Forum)
Ok, thats that - now, today on the way to work luckily only 5 mins away i had 2 warning lamps appear, one was the "P" to state a parking brake fault and the other is the ESP. You lot got any ideas what to do? or what it could be? Do you think its related to the noise? Oh, the electronic handbrake is working fine. I still leave it in 1st gear to make sure though. -
Peugeot 207 - Parking Charge Notice On Private Land 5 Sep 2013 (Forum)
The guy on the other end of the phone laughed and said "Needing the toilet is hardly seen as a valid reason to park where you shouldn't." I have 14 days to pay or the charge rises to £100, should I ignore this? Can they enforce the fine? Or do I have grounds to appeal? -
Rows of perfectly parked cars for sale. 11 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Its the perfection of the display that i find irresistable, perfect slant angle, the senior at bumper level squinting along the line of vehicles judging the fractions of the inch that might upset the fine balance of the line. When parked, a flag pole that needs to be trapped under the wheel will be placed against the wheel, now the driver will move the car, and after carefully pushing the flag pole inwards the car will be mover again to trap the wheel in perfect position, its wonderful to see. -

Vauxhall Astra Mk 5 1.8 Life, hatchback. 2008. - Auto gearbox stuck in park - Gear lever moves 9 Feb 2013 (Forum)
68000 miles. No problems with the car prior to this event which happened quite suddenly in a supermarket car park. The car was towed to a garage. The engine seems fine and is working, apparently. The car belongs to my daughter who lives 100+ miles away in Thetford, Norfolk. I have not been able to inspect the car myself but find the above diagnosis hard to believe. -

Drove it back home and it was fine. Came to it this morning and the same problem. I'm trying to release the parking brake, pulling hard on the lever but I cannot get the red warning light to go off. I keep applying the parking brake lever hard with my foot, then pull hard on the release button but no luck. -

won't start when it is left for a prolonged period i.e park up after work 5pm won't start in the morning with out a bump start , rest of the day when using it it starts fine and runs fine. I have had it in the garage as the first time it struggled to start it was frosty so I assumed glow plugs , they cannot remove as a alan bolt has been rouned off , the advice I got was to try pumping the small push button to prime the fuel, This has had no affect 73k on clock w reg well serviced .. -

Honda Prelude (1983 - 1992) - Idling speed reduced and lumpy 27 Sep 2007 (Forum)
The idling speed appears to be half what it should be and is lumpy. This suddenly happened. RAC man whipped out the plugs and they look fine. He apologised for not having exhaust gas analyser but they don't carry them. The carb controls all seem to be free, nothing sticking as far as I know. Engine seems to run fine through rest of the range. -

MOT advice please 10 May 2019 (Forum)
My MOT runs out tomorrow and I can't drive my car to get a new MOT (and it will fail anyway plus will never go back on the road again). I have road tax and insurance at the moment but am worried I could be fined for not having a valid MOT. Please note that my car is parked in my driveway, not on the road. Can I be fined for not having an MOT? I was planning to get the car SORN but cannot find my logbook. -
