The photos dont do it justice - and if I describe it as the love child of an Audi A4 and a Mondeo you might think its a derivative aberration. Not so, it looks great, a world away form the old car!
  • Ford Fiesta ecoboost 1.0 - Car Intermittently not starting 25 Sep 2019 (Forum)
The main dealer checked it for four hours but the diagnostics could not find a fault. It's 3 years old and done 47,000 miles (a driving school car ). Someone is taking a driving test in 2 weeks and I'm worried the car might not start at the start of the test. Any help would be appreciated! Rob
  • Any - Electrical faults in cars rise sharply in 5 years 18 Mar 2014 (Forum)
Interesting survey from yesterday's Telegraph about how electrical problems in cars of 3+ years old have more than doubled in the last 5 years. Renault lived up to the bar-room wisdom that 'French cars are terrible for electrics' by being  the least reliable manufacturer in terms of electrical problems.
  • Suzuki Ignis Sport - Ordering car parts on the Internet 5 Mar 2014 (Forum)
My 10 y-old car is being MOTed tomorrow and I may need to order new discs & brake pads. Last time they needed replacing, the garage (dealer) charged me a fortune for them and, since I may not keep the car very long (even if it passes), I 'd like to order them on the Net, I'm sure they'd be much cheaper.

Having never purchased a car before or being clued up on taxation, I need advice on the types of used car I could buy for that kind of budget, and figure in all costs such as tax, insurance (24yr old male, 7 years clean license, letter of no claims from company director) and upkeep etc.
  • car for 6k at auction? 4 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Hopefully people here don't object to this "what car should I buy...." thread. I've visited a couple of car auctions over the last couple of weeks, and I think I'm ready to take the plunge with about £6k. I thinking of a 3 yr old Golf or an Audi A3 (I think I can get one of these for about £6500).
  • long term storage? 25 Mar 2004 (Forum)
What sort of preparation would you do to a car if you were leaving it for such time? are certain cars better suited than others (quite fancy the idea of leaving an old MX5 out there...) Thanks for your help.
  • Laid-up car insurance 25 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Does anyone know where I can get say 6 month fire and theft only cover. Something like the kind of thing that seems to be available for classic cars, but for a 3 year old car. Thanks Ed
  • Who has either given or received a car as a gift? 13 Oct 2007 (Forum)
This car was only 7 years old! Suddenly the piles 7 to 10 year old cars in the local scrappy made perfect sense. I realised that I should have simply sold it for spares or repair and I would probably have made a small profit.
  • Was I wrong 12 Sep 2002 (Forum)
E explaining that I need the car for work which is how a 20 year old buy a £10k car and that I would want a coutisy car for the day as I was unwilling to take a holiday (one of the few that I get) to deal with the problem I was abruptly told that I needn?
  • Audi A3 - Audi A3 - Buying a high mileage A3 - advice needed 19 Sep 2020 (Forum)
Hi guys,  I'm looking to buy my first car here in the UK. I'm 29 years old and had my driving licence since I was 18 (issued in my home country, Romania) and although I've been living in the UK since 2013, I haven't driven here at all yet.  I've been looking on autotrader and I'm considering  the following:  https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202009023242239?
  • Volkswagen Touran - PDI on new car 24 Aug 2019 (Forum)
Not sure if I've been had by my dealer buying a 1 month old Touran 1.6 SE Family? I collected it today from a Volvo dealer one month old with 800 miles on the clock, one previous owner.  While checking through the documentation I noticed that the vehicle data sticker loose inside the owners manual was not for the car I was purchasing but for a different Touran.
  • Should I take out a new insurance policy? 26 Sep 2018 (Forum)

  • Buying advice needed: Family car - thinking ahead 14 Jul 2014 (Forum)
I drive a 2002 Nissan Almera Tino, 1.8 petrol. Bought for £6k in 2006 from a car supermarket.   The vehicle has now got 86,000 miles on it. I do about 6,000 miles a year. I'm hoping the Tino will survive another 2-4 years.   I'm aware that despite the car working well (the only gripe is the dead aircon) it won't go forvever.
  • Volvo V 60 - Flat Battery 29 May 2013 (Forum)

  • Honda CRV (02) Engine Failure 23 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I have owned a Honda CRV i-VTEC from new which is now just under 5 years old, it is on a 02 plate. The car has been perfect until last Thursday (8th March 2007) whan I was travelling North bound on the M11 near Stansted Airport around 7pm in the evening, so there were quite a few cars on the road, when suddenly at @ 70MPH I heard a large bang and saw lots of smoke coming from the engine, I immediately manouvered the vehicle onto the hard shoulder.
  • Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - 93-00 - TD poor mpg - not rise in fuel prices! 13 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Good evening to all, I hope someone can help me, or at least confirm what I'm thinking. My recently aquired escort estate TD is awful on fuel, my previous car was another escort estate but without the turbo. In the old car I used to get at least 110 miles from £10, in my new motor I'm getting around 140 miles to £20. I worked out the figures and it's around 35 mpg, I was getting 50+ from my old car.
  • Knackerd steering due to humps 26 Nov 2006 (Forum)
My Nissan in Thailand is an excellent car but lacks the dynamics of a SAAB or Audi, the Isuzu pickup has now reached 250,000 miles on original engine and gearbox, superb machine tough as old boots on or off road. My dads SAAB 900 V6 is 10 years old but superb, a minter, it will run for 20years.
