  • Ferrari 1 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Whilst I am not intending to sell it again in the forseeable future, neither do I want it to be worthless. Which also leads to the point that if I put 8000 miles a year on it, it will be, within two years, a *very* high mileage Ferrari. Again, not from a value point of view, but from a maintenance and reliability point, what impact would this have ?
  • Fiat Brava 1.4 timing belt. 24 Aug 2001 (Forum)
I do wonder if it isn't just the plastic pulley breaking but also this whipping movement that is leading to failure. If it was my own car I would modify the tensioner pulley mounting to give a rigid tensioned setting. But with the customers all I can do is fit the correct Fiat parts to the Fiat methods and not worry further.
  • If you don't want to get a ticket "just" 20 Nov 2001 (Forum)
An increasing number of road works, while being heavily enforced with cameras and unmarked police vehicles, do not bother with de-restriction signs at the end of the limit, instead relying on the 'road works end' sign. This can lead to a dangerously high speed differential between locals who know the limit has ended and visitors to the area who continue at the lower speed, unsure whether the limit extends to further road works.
  • Mazda CX-5 - Car breakdown very soon after service 7 Aug 2025 (Forum)
As a result, the injector needs to be replaced, an exhaust regeneration performed to clean it and a new battery, leading to a bill of almost £1000 including £400 just for the replacement injector. The car is 9 years old and has 110k miles on the clock, so it's not unreasonable that an injector would fail, but the timing makes me feel uncomfortable given the issues began almost immediately after the service.
  • Ford Focus ST - Used Car dealer purchase - Refund requested 20 Jul 2021 (Forum)
He had to pay a week before the car was delivered, but they won't refund until they have the car back, which seems somewhat unfair given all the hassle that he has had to lead on to try and resolve. Where does he stand in all of this ? Regards
  • Yahoo apart, most rely on telecommuting 1 Mar 2021 (Forum)
About 53 percent of business decision makers said that their employees were more productive when they telecommuted, and 93 percent of the workers like the idea. Staples the company is the leading office supply retailers, which means the outcome of the survey will impact it. More telecommuting considered acceptable About 120 HR executives were polled in a Challengers, Gray & Christmas Inc. survey that asked about whether or not there were telecommuting program plans in place.
  • Honda Jazz - Find My Daughter a Car - final Entry 15 Mar 2020 (Forum)
Its got a new MOT and the garage have done the advisories and a minor service (oil / filters) Everything works even though it is 12 years old, and its been looked after as far as we can tell by previous owners. On researching the Jazz in detail however there is a huge design flaw with them that leads to water in the boot. The seam weld at the top of the rear hatch on both sides is not always joined / sealed correctly and eventually leaks water down the inner panels which lands in the boot wheel well.
  • Vauxhall Zafira Tourer - Advice after MOT Fail 27 Jan 2020 (Forum)
I was horrified to see that the MOT fail for dangerously worn brake pads is on there from 2018. This leads me to two conclusions. Either the brake pads had not been replaced in the February, which I paid for and still have the receipt for, or the garage thought that they would try and charge me for new brake pads which I clearly didn't need.
  • VW Golf MK4 PD TDI 115 YR 2000 - Loss of power and limp mode. 22 Jul 2015 (Forum)
Once restarted the car returns to 'normal mode'. Since reading many forums of members with similar problems i have been lead to believe something could be causing the turbo to 'overboost'. I have even listened to the turbo when reving the engine and i can hear a 'whirring' noise from very early in the revs and once stopped reving the whirring noise takes a slight while longer to stop.
  • Ford Ka - cooling system and overheating 29 Dec 2013 (Forum)
I've just had a bit of a saga with my 05 50k 1.3 duratec Ka cooling system and thought a few of my experiences might be useful to someone with this car. First problem was a split header tank which is a regular problem leading to lost coolant and overheating. Fixed it and thena few months later overheating again in a major way. system ran out of coolant and light came on. Found the plastic thermostat manifold on the right side was cooked and had broken letting rapid loss of coolant.
  • Volkswagen Touran 2008 - VW woes :-( 16 May 2013 (Forum)
But approx. 20 month on (March/April 2013) I notice rust on the drivers door. Away from the edges and seams, approx 4" from the bottom of the door + 4" away from the leading edge of the door. - Take it to a VW bodyshop who tell me its had paintwork, filler is sinking and rust has appeared. Poor repairwork. My corrosion warranty is invalid due to damage/repair.
  • Colorado property manager threatens Obama-voters-r 24 Apr 2013 (Forum)
Then there is the CEO of Papa John’s, John Schnatter, who said the cost of “Obamacare” will lead to an extra 11 to 14 cents being added to pizzas to cover the extra costs. Sources VW Polo 1.2 2002 - Polo failed MOT on high CO 16 Sep 2011 (Forum)
The car's a 2002, 52 plate 1.2 65bph 3cylinder VW Polo. A few years back the coolant sensor failed, leading to the engine managment light (MIL) to come on. This was fixed, and it was fine until about 2 years ago. The light came on, with the same "Catalyst low efficiency" code. I cleared the code (ELM327 box + a laptop), replaced the sensor and it was fine for a while.
  • Citroen C5 - Compensation for faulty car 13 Jun 2011 (Forum)
I feel that the turbo charger and engine of the car should not have failed at 70,000 miles and their suggestion that the engine needed to be replaced leads me to believe that the vehicle was not of satisfactory quality, as laid down by the law. I requested a refund, an exchange or repair of the car, as I had not taken possession of the car they described in the paperwork.
  • Ford Fusion - Garage liable for mechanical damage? 25 May 2010 (Forum)
We're still on pretty good terms, as I don't want to fall out with the staff at the garage over this but I'm annoyed that their judgement to drive the car without checking the alternator over has lead to me facing a huge repair bill. Does anyone have similar experiences, or advice to offer? Do you think the garage should admit liability, partly or fully? I'm wondering if it is down to them to claim for this on their professional insurance?

  • Hyundai i20 (2009) - A worthwhile deal? 10 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I have read the CBC breakdown as well as checked other well-known motoring sites and it seems to get a generally good press, with some odd comments about the headrests jutting into the back of the neck. Picking up on another thread, it might not be at the leading edge of driving dynamics, but then you don't really need that going to Tesco?s. What we do need is a cheap, economical, safe runabout which can be used for the occasional longer, motorway trip and even the odd run down to the south of France.
  • Chrysler PT Cruiser: what it's like 16 Aug 2009 (Forum)
It's running sweetly at 55,000 miles, distinctly better after being booted a bit on the road, but a slight fluffiness from time to time suggests that new plugs and leads might not be a bad idea. These come in cheap and expensive options, and there's a coil pack - also a bit dear - which is supposed to give a couple of extra horses. K&N air filter might be another sensible change.
  • Day trip to France - LD Lines 12 Aug 2009 (Forum)
The layout is 'U' shaped so one drives on, round the U and finish up facing the rear, ready to be first off. The Upper deck is not nearly as high, one ramp, leading up to it from the lower deck and the same U layout. The problem, certainly on the top deck was that many cars did not have enough 'lock' to get round the U without making a three point turn and cars are parked so close that the passengers have to get out before the driver completes the parking.
  • `Tub O lard`? or shattered glass skeleton? WW1 29 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Foreseen. High Wood, Albert - gold spire. `The old front line` and the trap of a single track road leading towards Thiepval from Albert- ending in a crossroads of 4 roads with a crucifix on a cross at the edge of a wood. A mile long, tarmac at both ends, ultra narrow, no chance of turning, going from tarmac to crushed rock and then rough, sharp flint..
