BMW 5 Series - 2017 5 Series Review 30 Nov 2016 (Forum)
Evolution is something that has clearly worked for BMW as they are always some of the best engineeered cars out their in my humble opinion, alongside Honda, Subaru, Mazda and Toyota - again in my humble opinion - and I am not reffering to the type of engineering that aims to give a whiff of engineering by coating handles in rubber or damping switches. -
Ford Mondeo - 12k used family car 6 Nov 2016 (Forum)
The more toys the better, I am particularly fond of having cruise, heated leather seats, nav etc So far my best options seem to be: Ford Mondeo 2013 Titanium X Business: seen quite a lot of these at 45k miles for about £11500 mark, I assume they are generally ex-fleet. Mazda 6 estate 2013: about 12500 can get me the top of the range one with loads of mod cons. Are these generally known for being reliable? Id rather not spend a fortune in repairs down the line. -
Which car makers do / don't offer a spare wheel? 7 Aug 2015 (Forum)

Which car to go for? 8 Jul 2015 (Forum)
- automatic - prefer petrol but open to diesel - 6-8k miles per year - main qualities: comfort, safety, style - max age for used: two years We have so far considered Qashqai (£22k for 1.2 petrol new but unsure of resale value and second hand models scarce); Mazda CX-5 (looks good but costly new); CR-V (lots of kit for the price but costly new and poor reviews); RR Evoque (love the looks but costly even used and not a lot of kit for money); and Kia Sportage (looks good but not the best comfort levels or drive quality). -
Help! Which car? 6 Aug 2014 (Forum)
I quite like the look of a C1 if a small car is recommended, but I really like Vauxhall Corsas, Seat Ibizas, Mazda 2s... more space than I need but perhaps more suitable? Any advice you could give will be greatly appreciated. I just don't know what to do! -
Event Tyres - Recommended tyre fitters 26 Apr 2014 (Forum)
Having bought and been very pleased with a Citroen C2 LX 1.1 and later a Mazda 2 TS2 after reading the complimentary reviews on HJ, I decided to follow like advice to replace the Michelin Energy Saver tyres on my wife's C2. The tyres have performed admirably and I was going to replace them with the same but after reading some HJ tyre reviews purchased Goodyear Vector All Seasons. -

Swift, polo, fabia or punto - Which 5dr supermini brand new and pref diesel 17 Mar 2013 (Forum)
My husband is buying a brand new supermini size car (please no comments about not buying new he wants new and won't be shifted at all) we had a 2007 grande punto diesel (1.3 multijet) until 2010 and currently have a Mazda 2 (which we hate and want to get rid of). We are looking round and round but can't seem to make a decision. We now have a short list (not so short!!) Suzuki swift 1.2 sz4 (petrol) Suzuki swift 1.3 ddis (diesel) Vw polo bluemotion 1.2 (diesel) Vw polo match (diesel) Fiat punto easy 1.3 multijet (diesel) Fiat punto lounge 1.3 multijet (diesel) Skoda fabia greenline 1.2 (diesel) Our budget is approx £12-13k which we can get the above for from online brokers (ie broadspeed or drive the deal), might try what local dealers can offer as well. -
Mazda6 MPS - Air Con / Main Dealer Problem 5 Apr 2011 (Forum)
On a particularly hot day in July 2010, I noticed that the air conditioning in my Mazda6 MPS had stopped cooling. I rang my local Mazda main dealer who told me that I needed the system re-gassing. This was done and I was charged £60, but it did not solve the problem. I was then told that the air condenser was riddled with stone chips and that I needed a new one for a further £450. -
MPV - for 'a grand'? 14 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Nissan Tino...1.8s and high tax so seem costly...also reliability issues. Picassa...reliability issues, and probably too expensive? Merivas? Zafiras? Mazda Premacy? Everything I read has downsides or scare stories and I am getting confused! Any advice...? Baby arrives in April, so clock is ticking! Cheers all. -
Body assembly 29 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Went to see our American lady friend yesterday and for the first time saw her Mazda 3 (saloon not hatch) in a fetching shade of kingfisher blue. I noticed immediately that the shutline at the leading edge of the bonnet lid was too wide, and wider at one side than the other, ruining the look of the car. -
Head or head? 20 Sep 2009 (Forum)
It replaced a Saab 9-3 and at that point we planned to make this our only car by also retiring our old Mazda 323 when its MOT expired in September (as I was taking the train to work). When the scrappage scheme came out we went and replaced the 323 with an i10 - which is a surprisingly good car and the Mrs is delighted with it. -

Free Cee'd - Bye MX5 or C4? 30 Jul 2007 (Forum)
We pay the same monthly for each and have a year left on the C4 VT (55) and two years on the MX5 1.6 (04). The C4 is still in warranty for another year, the Mazda is more fun. The C4 is safer than the MX5 (can't help but notice the bare metal roof Meccano next to my head). If we kept both cars for a few years (which was the original plan), the MX5 is likely to hold its value better. -
Why are supercars so wide? 16 Jul 2007 (Forum)
I was wandering through the Yorkshire Dales yesterday and came across two Ferraris (what they were doing out in driving rain I do not know - I wouldn't) and came to realise that these modern beasts are incredibly wide; ridiculously so. We also came across what I assume to be a Mazda MX-5 rally as there were several groups of them going in tandem at some speed and certainly far faster than the Ferraris. What conclusion did I draw from this? Well, why did Ferraris and their ilk become so wide? -
What new car for £8-9k? 19 May 2007 (Forum)
I've short listed following cars Suzuki Swift GLX 1.5 Hyundai Getz 1.3 [5 yr warranty] Honda Jazz 1.2/1.4 [bit over budget] Mazda 2 (but it's Ford basically, isn't it?) Toyota Yaris (but looks over priced and awkward) Any other suggestion?? I'm mainly picking Japanese/Korean brands because of their value for money and reliability ratings. -
£1,500 buying decision 23 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Non-coupe options I've been looking at include the late old-shape Mondeo V6, the Mitsubishi Galant V6, Mazda Xedos and the top-end late old-shape Nissan Primeras. Any thoughts on the above choices are most welcome - and of course any other suggestions. Cheers in advance! -
New Rovers 4 Feb 2007 (Forum)
A 2 or 3 year old car, that's done average miles, from just about any other manufacturer would cost far less and be a far better bet? Any why buy an MG-FT {or what ever it will be called} from this summer? The Mazda MX5 is far better. Honda , Alfa & othetrs all do much better 2 seaters, that are not based on a 1980s backwards Metro. Lots of 2 and 4 seater convertibles with folding tin tops / optional hard tops. -
Help needed.....bought a write off!! 20 Oct 2006 (Forum)
The seller wanted his private plate back, so I eventually acquired the car under its old registration number. I only found out it was a previous write off after bringing it to mazda for some repair work and they carried out an experian check for me. I phoned HPI and they are now telling me that their records indicate this car was a write off indeed. I am in the process of pursing compensation (only a miserly £2000 max). -
