  She took the car to her local garage (independent) and he said that she should take the car to the Toyota dealership because, in his experience, he had not encountered this type of problem before (he said it was not the tracking). She then took the car to the Toyota dealership and they performed a 4-wheel alignment test and discovered that the front wheels were out of alignment. However, although the dealership have done this, she is still worried that there may still be an underlying problem because of the nature of the wear on the tyres.

  Hi all,am after a bit of advise.I got hit in the rear end by a 3rd party,there was some damage to my rear bumper and I noticed some vibrations/shakes in both my steering wheel and the car in general.The 3rd party’s insurance arranged for a repair to be done through their recommend garage.A couple of days ago I got a call from the repair garage advising me the insurance aren’t going to cover the repairs because the garage have advised them that in other for them to troubleshoot the problem of the vibrations the first of all need to do a wheel balancing and possibly a wheel alignment,if that doesn’t work they would need to do some further checks.The insurance company had refused to authorise the wheel alignment or the balancing as they feel it’s not accident related and it’s just wear and tear.

  I had 2 new front tyres fitted to my van yesterday at a main dealer nearby, and whilst it's been a few years since I fitted tyres and balanced them myself, I understood the yellow dot on the tyre to be the lightest point of balance on the tyre, and therefore to be aligned with the valve, not opposite or at random, and that any wheel weights added to balance the assembly should always be at the same point on the rim, not around 90 deg to each other, as is evident on my van now. ( I realise inner and outer rim weights are not usually aligned) Before I go charging in tomorrow to get it done properly, can anyone confirm please that technology has not changed in my absence, and balancers can identify a number of areas that need a weight, and the spot codes are the same?

   I dont have the tool to do this, when i look at haynes manual it doesnt say much about this, in fact the only alignment tool it mentions in this process is the one used to centre align the clutch friction plate.   So few questions: 1. is there any form of alignment i need to be mindful of when taking old flywheel/clutch off and replacing with newer ones?
