  recently i took my SEAT TOLEDO 97 2.0 litre to an independent dealer to have the air con re-gassed, it was working but just not getting cold enough. I was quoted £70 for gas and system check which seemed fair enough. After a 2 hour wait a mobile air con guy turned up and re-gassed the system he then checked it over and told me that the condenser was leaking and offered me a replacement part for £317 although it was not an original SEAT part and told me that if i agreed straight away he could fit it next week.

  When I switch the air con on I can hear a fan runnng, can hear it a bit in the car but its a lot louder outside the car, its coming from the front of the engine near the front grill. I am assuming this is the fan in front of the radiator.

  I went to put the air con on today and nothing happened; The switch illuminates but there is no noise from the compressor, drop in revs or cool air. It has been worked OK up to today it was regassed by Quik Fit in Aug 08.

  I looked under the bonnet and noticed that belt was not sitting right so i tried to push the belt back on and the air con pump fell under the engine. The hosesare still connected but it looks like the bracket has snapped. Do i have to replace the whole unit orcan the bracket be changed? Thank you in advance

  I asked this question a good while back (but didn't follow it up) and am asking again in the hope that someone has had some recent relevant experience: Can anyone recommend a good air con specialist reasonably local to me? - I'm in Hemel Hempstead and am thinking Watford/St Albans maybe, but could travel further afield.

  My air con went for re-gassing which showed a leak on the pipe that goes across the radiator. This is where the bracket joins which i no is a common problem. I was wondering if its possible to replace pipes with rubber?

  My Xantia estate (Mk2) has air-con and it has started switching itself on without the dash switch depressed. The light on the dash switch comes on too. I assume it is either a faulty switch or faulty relay. Has anyone experienced this, and can anyone tell me which relay - I could then test to find out which is faulty (or could it be wiring ?).

  The air distribution switch will only send the air to the windscreen vents regardless of its position. I know it is a vacuum operated system on this...

  I own a Ford Focus 1.8 petrol which has air conditioning fitted. I bought the car when it was 5 years old and I have no evidence that the air con system has ever been serviced and so far in the time that I have had it, I have had nothing done to it.
