A Grand Monday: Honda CRX Del Sol 5 Dec 2016 (News)
In terms of its styling, it looks to be mid-engined like a Toyota MR2, but it is, in fact, front-engined and front-wheel-drive, like the Civic on which it is based. The rear conceals a moderate sized boot, and a somewhat larger luggage storage area behind the seats, accessed by tilting or sliding them forwards. It’s awkward, but it kind of works. CRXs of both generations have a strong following on the Japanese car scene, with the later models still attainable for a relatively sensible outlay. -
A Grand Monday: Vauxhall Vectra 28 Nov 2016 (News)
It was the car that Jeremy Clarkson famously refused to drive. A model that, in his view, was so devoid of character that even Vauxhall's own PR department turned in desperation to its aerodynamic door mirrors just to give them something to write about, while in the process unfortunately drawing journalists' attention to the fact that, while they may have been slippery and streamlined, the mirrors weren't actually any use for seeing what was coming up behind you. -
Historics 26th November Auction Taster at London Classic Car Show today 28 Oct 2016 (News)
This ultra-rare right-hand drive 5.5 litre V8 supercharged 580HP 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG is one of just 40 built and has a mere 9,900 warranted miles. It should still be capable of its restricted maximum speed of 199mph and is estimated at £210,000 to £250,000. -

A Grand Monday: Rover 200 BRM, £875 25 Apr 2016 (News)
Although it was a surprisingly rewarding car to drive, indeed, a right laugh, the BRM hardly set the world on fire. Despite its limited production run, Rover struggled to shift them down to a rather ambitious asking price of £18,000 – hence why this one wasn’t registered until December 1999, a year and a half after the BRMs were built. -
A Grand Monday: BMW 3-series Touring £850 7 Mar 2016 (News)
The difficulty, though, is finding a good one. There are two reasons for this. First, while E36s are terrific to drive and feel well engineered, the overall durability just isn’t as good as the E30 generation of 3-Series that preceded it. Second, the sad truth is that many have ended their lives as amateur drift cars. -
A Grand Monday: Low-mileage Metro, £999 8 Feb 2016 (News)
There’s suddenly quite a following for Metros, with the earliest examples selling for upwards of £3000-£4000 in excellent condition. The later, Rover-badged cars are less collectable but are, by contrast, much better cars to drive. With the lively K-series engine, which seems far less afflicted by head gasket failure in the Metro’s standard 1.1-litre and 1.4-litre guise than it does in larger cylinder capacities, coupled to excellent handling and upmarket interiors, they make great inexpensive classics, especially for younger drivers. -

Frankfurt Motor Show 2015: Smart reveals Fortwo Cabrio 15 Sep 2015 (News)
The size of the Fortwo remains the same as the hard-top though, which means the two-seater is still ideal for urban driving due to its compact size that stretches just 2.6 meters long and 1.8 meters wide. The exterior is slightly different with narrower B-pillars to facilitate the folding mechanism. -
Jaguar Land Rover fights back on potholes 10 Jun 2015 (News)
The technology, which is fitted to Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery Sport research vehicles, is currently able to best judge potholes when the car actually drives over them – but the company hopes that advanced road-scanning technology in future will change that. JLR’s Dr. Mike Bell explains: "By monitoring the motion of the vehicle and changes in the height of the suspension, the car is able to continuously adjust the vehicle’s suspension characteristics, giving passengers a more comfortable ride over uneven and damaged road surfaces." -
46% of new car buyers want to buy online 8 Jun 2015 (News)
This suggests that people using the internet to buy cars can treat the online marketplace as a simple, easy way to compare the best prices without having to negotiate directly, and that test drives are not a priority. Mark Peatey, Director at Finance A car , a UK website that provides an end to end solution for new car buyers, stated that, “Whilst online car buying is common in other countries such as France, until recently it has not been easy in the UK. -
Latest News From Barrett Jackson's 15th January Marathon Auction 16 Jan 2015 (News)
The most prized cars are the muscle cars from the years when ‘baby boomers’ first got their driving permits. Rather too many unique ‘special edition’s, maybe. But the big turn-ons are ‘super muscle cars’, a term coined by Barry White of Corona, California for the muscle motors of the 1960s and 70s brought up to date with the latest tech that can include air suspension, rack and pinion steering, 6-speed manual and autoboxes and remanufactured ‘crate engines’, some of them offering 600HP plus. -
London Classic Car Show honours Adrian Newey 13 Dec 2014 (News)
Among the cars that meant so much to him when he was growing up were his father’s Riley RMF – ‘a beautiful thing’ – and a Mini Cooper S, which was the car he learned to drive in. Newey has his own collection of cars and will be bringing along his Jaguar SS100 that he bought ‘as a bag of bits’ and restored. There’ll also be the Ford GT40 that you may have seen him racing at Goodwood Revival. -
Who fancies a ‘brand new’ Sunbeam Lotus? 24 Oct 2014 (News)
The UK list price of the Sunbeam Lotus in 1980 was £7205, making it considerably dearer than the £4995 Ford Escort RS2000 and £5577 Vauxhall Chevette 2300HS. This left-hand drive ‘time warp’ Sunbeam was discovered by its current owner as part of a large private collection in Italy. It remains all-original throughout, including its Embassy Black paint finish with silver decals. -

The headgasket was upgraded in 2010, with receipts for the work done. According to the seller, ‘The car runs and drives 100% with no faults at all. There are no issues with the engine, clutch or gearbox whatsoever. And all the electrics work: windows, mirrors, remote central locking.’ Recent work includes new front brake calipers, front brake pads and discs, near rear brake pads, plus new spark plugs and HT leads. -

Bugatti Type 35 to star in Bournemouth 9 May 2014 (News)
As well as the Type 35 Bugatti, the National Motor Museum will also bring two additional pre-war cars to the Festival, which can be seen in a marquee on the seafront close to Boscombe Beach (Undercliff Drive) during the three day event. These are the 1935 Auburn 851 and 1939 Rolls-Royce Alpine Eagle, a sporting version of the Silver Ghost, which was named because the Rolls-Royce team swept the board in the 1913 Austrian Alpine Trials. -
A Grand Monday: Montego 2.0 GSi 3 Mar 2014 (News)
. But that doesn't mean it was a bad car. Far from it. A good Montego was a good car to drive, with strong, torquey engines, nice ride and handling, and plenty of interior room. All it really lacked was that showroom wow factor that marked its two best selling rivals. In classic terms, though, the Montego scores pretty well - it has a strong following, and plenty of 'my dad had one of those' appeal... which as we all know, is vitally important. -
A Grand Monday: Fiat Uno 60S 24 Feb 2014 (News)
If you're looking for an Uno, the only verson that people seem to be chasing and paying real money for is the Turbo - if you want a cooking one, you can still find a good one, and not pay a fortune for it. Here's a great example, and one that I'd be tempted to put on my own drive, had I not got too many French projects on the go already. It's a 1988 60 Super five-door with a mere 31,000 miles on the clock, and is described by its seller as being in ' as new' condition, helped in no part by being dry-stored since 1998.
