  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1998 1.9dt - Dead batteries on key fob 28 Oct 2007 (Forum)
I realise that this has been touched upon previously but thought i'd ask again as there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer to the problem. The batteries on the keyfob on on my 98 1.9 dt go flat after a week of replacing. As far as I know the keys are i/r. Did also take to an auto electrical place who couldnt find a fault. It does work until the batteries go flat.
  • Battery boiling - damage caused? 8 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Hi all, a description of my holiday motoring woes will follow in discussion (probably after being run past DD for naming and shaming clearance), but... The voltage regulator failed on my alternator, and was boiling the car battery, venting into the engine bay and (at lower speeds) through the ventilation system for about three or four hours of high speed driving on French autoroutes. The alternator and battery have been replaced under warranty, and I plan to get the manufacturer to change the soundproofing on the bonnet as you can see where the fumes have melted the insulation.
  • Battery Warning Light VW 1.6 D Van 2 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Hello, I have an old 1981 VW Transporter camper, with a 1.6 Diesel engine. For a couple of weeks, the battery warning light started to come on at highish engine speeds, I thought the fan belts must be slipping so I've tightened these up, and checked that the alternator is turning ok, it is. What could be causing this light to come on ?
  • Ultra efficient batteries 1 May 2005 (Forum)
Once somebody invents ultra efficient batteries, all cars (except recreational 'classics' such as Aston Martins etc.) will be electric. The reliance of the world on oil will be gone. We'll all recharge our cars overnight from the mains, which draw power from nuclear powerstations (probably based somewhere a long way away from anywhere such as the desert).
  • Flat battery again. vw polo 2 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Following on from my earlier \'03 Polo flat battery problem..... http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=12781&v=f the darn thing did the same agin on saturday - dead as a proverbial. VW assistance guy managed to narrow it down to a .4 amp drain on the battery from the central locking circuit by removing the fuses one by one until the drain returned to normal .014 amp drain.
  • it's all gone horribly wrong 27 Oct 2003 (Forum)
citroen ax 1.1i won't start - Got someone to test the battery, they said it had no charge, it wasn't getting a charge and and alternator wasn't working - went and got new alternator from shop. • Mini charging problem 5 Mar 2003 (Forum)
I'm terrible with electrics, the alternator when the engine is running gives 14v but the voltage at the battery/starter solenoid is only what is left in the battery 12.5v when I have charged it but only 9.7v after i drove from Newcastle to Leeds. I have tried different starter motors and the cable between battery, in the boot, and starter appears to be ok.

  • 2014 RAV4 - Towing electrics 30 Aug 2020 (Forum)
My otherwise perfect (literally!) 2014 RAV4 has been prone to run down its battery prematurely since fitting towing electrics 4 or so years ago.  It's only a minor inconvenience (as I now use a battery isolator when parking for extended periods) but ideally I would like to fix the issue one day.
  • Citroeon Berlingo 750 hdi - Help for a newbie please 23 Jun 2020 (Forum)
Eventuall got it recovered and towed to a local garage. They did a diagnostic check and said a list of faults are showing yet before I took it for a battery change there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. I dont want a garage to rip.me off by saying this that and the other is wrong when its obviously something to do with the battery being disconnected for a while.

  • Nissan Micra - 04 micra stalling and battery drain 25 Nov 2014 (Forum)
I have disconnected the boot switch just to check and the beep is still there.   Any idea what that could be and what's draining the battery?   It's pain in the butt when engine cuts off when battery is dead. Jump start works perfectly fine. Thanks in advance.
  • Ford Mondeo - Expected battery drain when standing? 26 Jan 2014 (Forum)
But was it? Battery looks fairly new, don't mind replacing it but need to know what the problem is. Tried a meter when standing, but left door open and forgot it has footwell lights, meter with 250mA fuse blew. If my maths is right that needs 3W which seems reasonable that it could have been the light.

  • Citroen Xsara (1997 - 2004) - 00 2.0 HDI battery light, boot switch, fan problem 6 Jun 2009 (Forum)
    Strangely enough, the fan goes off, and the lights dip when the battery light comes on??? I drive 80 miles a day, and have no starting problems, so i assume the battery and alternator are ok. The other problem is the boot switch, when i unlock the car with key fob, the boot switch activates, i press boot release button 10 times and am ok for my journey, if i just open and close boot, it opens when i start car, please point me in the right direction, it's driving me mad, Thanks Gareth {post amended to remove all the SHOUTING!}
  • Citroen Saxo (1997 - 2003) - Battery light comes on despite three alternators. 1 Oct 2007 (Forum)
We managed to drive to Dover without a problem & then on the ferry the light came on again & the same problem happened all over again. We then changed the alternator again with a brand new one, bought a new battery & new battery terminals it was working fine & 10 days later it happened again. She went into a garage Friday & was apparently fixed drove her all day yesterday without a problem & then it happened again last night.
