  • Reanualt Clio 2 - Clio 2 2004 1.2 16v - Rough Running 15 Sep 2010 (Forum)
Started thinking Lambda, ECU, Crank Sensor, Loom , you know all those lovely things Renault would charge an arm and a leg for but stopped and went right back to basics, car starts fine with no engine light on, runs like a lumpy pig so going back the days before ECU's and Laptops I would have said H.T lead or maybe coil so checked out a part number with Europarts as the coil pack and leads are one unit and priced at £28.00 thought its worth a go before we get into Diagnostics mumbo jumbo where you pay and don't always get the correct answer !

  • Renault Clio 1 Petrol RT 1.4 - Misfire and general roughness 18 Apr 2010 (Forum)
For a few weeks now its been misfiring badly. It was misfiring a while ago, but was solved with new plug leads, distributor cap and rotor arm. About 3 weeks ago, the misfire returned. Its not consistent though, which is confusing. Sometimes it will run fine, but then others it will bog down when accelerating, mostly when in 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd gear.

  • Fitting a parrot handsfree 2 Mar 2008 (Forum)
My only problem was trying to get the radio out - couldn't get the keys anywhere and eventually had to ask a friendly car audio installer for a loan of his keys for 2 mins. Apart from that the Parrot comes with leads that are all shaped so that they can only fit one other fiting so there is no doubt where any of them go. If your radio is not ISO then you need to get a separate lead - Halfords will charge £20 for this but available for about half that on the net.
  • Mondeo Diesel run dry 17 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Then we had one more go and found that it would not even turn over, then it turned over but grudgingly (not like before) the leads were warm but my battery was still good and I had my engine revving so it should have been ok. I don't understand why it suddenly stopped turning over and then only grudgingly? But I was not the one starting the car so it could have been incompetence on the part of the guy who was trying to start it.
  • 96(N) Escort 1.8 Zetec Idle Speed 29 Jun 2005 (Forum)
It's done 117,000 miles, and i don't really want to start buying parts to guess what the problem may be. Does anyone know if replacing any of the following might cure the problem? Plug leads Idle speed sensor on gearbox Oxygen (Lamda) Sensor (The exhaust does pop a bit too) If you can help in any way, it would be appreciated. Thanks.
  • Don't judge a..... 27 Jul 2003 (Forum)
That's what lead me to say that appearances can be deceptive, and I'm sure it's not just me who's experienced that? Anymore examples (motoring ones) ?
  • Qashqai - Qashqai 1st Gen---faults and reliability? 14 Dec 2021 (Forum)
For example, batteries dying prematurely, apparently having the highest breakdown rate of all vehicles in the UK (thisismoney article), suspension problems, premature timing belt failure, windscreen leak---leading to water ingress, front suspension lower ball joints not seating correctly, power steering and rack/pinion problems, etc. Can any users verify this? What have you experienced and do you regret your decision to buy?
  • any - Tyre Tread depth. 1 Aug 2021 (Forum)
We are advised to replace when the depth is reduced to 2mm. I recently replaced mine with a set of leading brand tyres. On line facts give noise level, braking and fuel consumption performance. I was surprised when I measured the as new tread depth as 6mm. giving only 4mm of wear. I can remember getting 50,000 miles out of a set of Michelin tyres many years ago (unfortunately no recollection of tread depth.)
  • VW Golf not starting 18 Oct 2020 (Forum)
A quality garage has changed the clutch switch, it worked for about half an hour, it has been on various garage computers and brings nothing up on the fault codes. Another garage has removed all the earth leads as some was corroded and replaced all. It worked ok for 3 days and back to normal, not starting. Any idea guys. The garages it has been to are very reputable, it's had a new battery as well.
  • Dashcam suitable to switch between cars 6 Aug 2019 (Forum)
I need a good resolution for detail like number plates when playing clips back; quick to release and fix to windscreens when changing between vehicles; if possible, a reasonable battery life so I don't need a charge lead hanging off it all the time. Need one to do the job so not necessarily the cheapest. Any recommendations please?
  • GPS, GMP advice 12 Apr 2018 (Forum)
I was interested to hear on Sky news today that GMP advice GPS units to be put on the bottom of the screan and touching them can lead to a fine of £50 plus. My windscrean is quite sharply racked and so putting the GPS unit on the bottom makes it so far away I can not see the details, secondly as you drive it gives traffic updates and if it suggests another route demands a confirmation if you wish to use it.
  • Hard cold starting, Yamaha Scooter.125cc 7 Jul 2016 (Forum)
I can hear the starter is turning but the engine will not fire. The charging system has been charged and is O.K. I had to have the bike started with leads by the RAC where it started first time. Also, in the colder weather, it seems to stall when started and can only be kept running if I opening the throttle. When started, it re-starts first time.

  • Engine size Nissan QQ 17 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Had this engine in a Micra a much lighter car and was not impressed with its ,poke, A qq is much heavier than a Micra so I do not see any improvement in performance of even keeping the status quo of the 1.5.cc Can any current owner of the 1.2.QQ assure me that it has .getupand go,? Would like the 1.6. diesel but short runs I fear would lead me into conflict with the DPF. hfp

  • VW Golf 1.6 Tdi DSG 105 Bhp - Extended warranties 26 Jul 2013 (Forum)
I test drove one of these and was amazed at the performance as I was lead to believe the 1.6 diesel might be underpowered. The price was about £1000 more than it should have been, but it was a main dealer (Peugeot) and in a small rural town and it did come with a 5 year extended warranty.
