Smart - Fourtwo diesel - importing one from Belgium 6 Dec 2007 (Forum)
The issue is , Ist time round there was no UK dealership network at the time , so I had no hassle in personally importing it and getting SMART UK when it set up to register it for the warantee ( it needed warantee work once for dodgy electrics ). Now , Smarts are sold in the UK, but crucially, not the diesel which for us Londoners represent not only free VED but also free congestion charging on account of the sub 100 g / CO2 emissions . -
Older diesel 4x4 recomendations ? 13 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Short list so far Discovery 300TDI Nissan Terrano 2.7TDI (or jap import Minstral equivalent) (not in fashion so cheap and reliable) Shogun/Pajero LWB (not keen on looks specially the Pajeros) Izuzu Trooper ( or bighorn jap import equivalent) looks dated to me and huge! -
Is this bit important? 10 Feb 2003 (Forum)
The aerodynamic board was not very, and had semi-detached due to turbulence. To get to the point.... Is the board important? Should I replace it? Is it required for the MOT? Will it being less than aerodynamic explain poor MPG and top speed. (I cannot get better than around 33-35 MPG which for a 1.9 TD is poor) Still, made me smile, I thought the cat was blocked and the exhaust had dropped off (assuming I have a cat)! -
Car recommendations under £7000 19 Jun 2023 (Forum)
Criteria, in no particular order: 1) Better MPG than the current 36mpg 2) Reliability 3) A car with a bit more poke than currently 4) Would prefer the ease of an auto but happy enough with a manual, as reliability and MPG is more important 5) Would prefer something a little sporty looking, but not hugely important 6) Parking sensors/Reverse cam would be a bonus as current vehicle has them £7000 budget. -

£5K to spend, what to buy? 22 Dec 2003 (Forum)
OK here goes, £5K to spend, want Focus size vehicle, Diesel if possible, will be doing 15-25K miles per year, mostly motorways. Love the Focus handling, but this is not so important if I am driving my 'own' vehicle as I wont be thrashing it quite so much. Servicing, Insurance, Fuel costs (or lack of) quite important as I have a feeling I am going to be skint for a while before getting the new business going. -
MB warranty question 27 Oct 2002 (Forum)
I'm looking at buying a Merc SLK. I've been offered a 2001 vehicle which was originally supplied as an import. It's around £3000 less than equivalent UK-supplied car. Looks a bargain. Question is, what about warranty? UK supplied Mercs have 3-year warranty, but only manufacturer's portion of that will apply to import. -
