Altogether, 180 vehicles in the auction including two Mercedes McClarens, a Maybach 62 and 25 cars at no reserve.. Viewing at Mercedes Benz World Thursday 16 th  and Friday 17 th  May.   The Bonhams classic car auction at the Goodwood Festival of Speed has re-written the history books - it was topped by the Mercedes-Benz W196 that took five-time champion Juan Manuel Fangio to the second of his F1 world championships. It sold for a whopping £19,601,500 (US$29,650,095, €22,701,864). The sale as a whole made £36,072,464 to become the highest-grossing auction of motor cars in Europe.

  Two cars previously owned by rock stars – the Bee Gees’ Barry Gibb and Status Quo’s Francis Rossi – are heading to auction. The cars – a 1977 Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL and 1995 BMW E38 750iL – will go under the hammer at Birmingham’s NEC as part of a two-day sale over the weekend of 24-25 March. Barry Gibb owned this Mercedes-Benz for more than 30 years.
