Fantastic Vehicle - Just wish it was a hatchback!

Having previously owned a PHEV for almost 4 years, like so many who eventually make the switch to electric, the electric experience is nothing new, although the lack of a backup ICE is! So far (due to Covid 19 Lockdowns) I haven't been far enough to need to charge away from home but know that the Tesla Supercharger Network is second to none so I have no real worries on that score plus there is also the advantage that it is possible to use the independent networks as well.

The purchasing experience online is something new, transferring large sums of money online to an organisation you know little about, but I was very satisfied with the trade in price offered for my PHEV which is taken off the 'account' once offered (it's not negotiable). The whole process from ordering to collection took less than a month (the car was already 'in transit') and collection day at Birmingham was very easy and exciting. I handed over the paperwork and keys for my previous car and was given the key cards for my Tesla and asked to go and check it and familiarise myself with it. There's no pressure and once you're happy with your car, you go and sign for it and your phone app is activated and you drive away at your leisure. I am very satisfied with ALL of the build quality despite many online criticisms.

The car itself is fantastic, easy to drive, extremely comfortable (on the basic Aero Wheels) and feels very safe. It has very impressive technology as standard and this all seems to work very well. I had a minor issue in the first few days in that one of the wing cameras stopped working (it was ok on collection) so I had a chance to try out Tesla's Service Centre at Milton Keynes. Booking that appointment at 06:30 in the morning was a new and strange experience but on arrival at the Service Centre everything went without a hitch and the camera was replaced in about 40 mins under warranty - very impressive!! No further problems so far!

The only downside to this car is that it's a saloon (or sedan) and a hatchback would suit my lifestyle better. There is however a very large boot and also the 'frunk', so storage or luggage capacity is not an issue - despite being a 'small' Tesla, this is quite a large car! Obviously I knew all this and also that I can make this work for me, but will probably change to a Model Y once that is released in the UK. Other than this one issue this is a fantastic car and I have no wish to return to a combustion engine vehicle at all.
