A Crossover That'll Give Most 4x4's A Run For The Money

I bought the XV to replace my Ford B-Max of which I had some problems with.

I live in Minehead near Exmoor so I thought that a small four wheel drive hatch would suit my needs perfectly, not driving large mileages I didn't really want a diesel so this narrowed the search down to the Suzuki S-Cross and the XV both of which offer petrol 4x4 motoring and cost roughly about the same.

So far I've not yet covered 500 miles but have found the XV to be powerful very smooth and comfortable with stunning road holding which holds the car like a fly on a window pane, it handles very well plus the braking is the best I've come across in any car I've driven. As I said in the first paragraph the roads around Minehead are of rather poor quality made worse by the recent storms ,but the XV just gets on with it, I've taken in on an unmade track used by tractors without any problems at all.

There's a few downsides the boot is rather on the small side, but putting the back seat down is easy and then there's plenty of room. I thought it was a little thirsty but being a two litre I expected that but to give an extreme example driving up Porlock Hill which is a 25% gradient you can easily return single figure MPG figures but simply cruising along the A39 mid-forty MPG's are easily obtainable.

To sum up if you want a car that looks like a SUV buy a 2WD crossover, the neighbours will never notice, but if you'd like a car that has some fairly serious off road ability give the XV a try I'd recommend it
