Excellent car that served us well, greatly under-rated by the industry in my opinion

Ours was an ex-demo car with 6K miles on the clock. It was our 3rd Saab, we had previously had a 9000 and a 9-5 Estate. The car performed brilliantly for us for 6 years, serviced regularly at the same Saab dealer where we bought it. It never let us down, the only hiccup being a broken front spring on our awful roads around here in Kent.
Fuel economy was great, around 47mpg, despite the fact that it was usually driven hard. We changed the timing belt at 6yrs/50K miles, a year early but just to be on the safe side.
It was supremely comfortable in the front but lacking leg-room in the back, although still comfortable there. Versatility with the estate rear was excellent, and we also made a lot of use of the roof bars.
Downsides? Lack of rear-seat legroom perhaps, if you often have adult passengers. And the ride on low-profile tyres could be a tad harsh although it improves as the tyres warm up.
Sadly the car was killed in a serious crash on the M25, but it saved me almost competely from injury. After hitting the crash barrier head-on at maybe 55mph, the cabin was still completely intact and all the doors' shut-lines were still perfect. "Good thing you had that crash in a Saab", said the police who attended.
A great car and I shall miss it.
