Surprisingly decent

Bought when car was 2 years old with 28000 miles. This has been surprisingly reliable, economical and comfortable. The car has 79000 miles with no major issues and no major expenditures apart from routine servicing. It is rattle-free and wearing rather well. It is reasonably punchy for its limited power rating, very economical, reasonably refined for a diesel and has good grip although the handling is a little uninspired. It's not unusual for me to see 80+ miles per gallon on a run.
Negatives? The ride is unsettled over poor road surfaces and the car skips over potholes and surface irregularities in mid corner, the gear change is notchy and occasionally baulky, there is some rust on the bonnet (though nowhere else it appears), the practicality is not the best as the rear hatch is smaller than one would expect, the rear passenger space is limited and it is difficult to get a good driving position unless you're happy to block of some of the instrumentation on the dash.
This is my 2nd Peugeot - the first being a 307 1.4 diesel which was also surprisingly reliable and well assembled too. On the basis of my experiences with Peugeot, I would certainly buy another one without too much hesitation.
