Such promise if only Toyota had built it.

Last year at 28000 miles i was a very happy customer with an odd looking car that I was very happy with (although I had wished Toyota had made it) So here I am at 50,000 miles with my car in week 3 and its still with the main dealer after going in for service and with it occasionally jumping out of reverse gear on selection. A few days prior to service the clutch appeared to be slipping. Garage agreed clutch slipping and needed to replace, on removal clutch plate found with little wear and in discussion with fleet company & Peugeot the replaced centre plate, release bearing, slave cylinder to make sure (a wise precaution given price of parts and agreed cost sharing with Peugeot) Car returned on the following Monday and on selection of 1 st gear it jumped straight out and on the rest of the short journey gears were either hard to select or jumped out so garage called and car collected next day. Car returned same day very clearly road tested due to miles and lack of diesel that it went in with. Jumped straight into car and worse than before jumping out of every gear most times and hard to select 2nd gear. Garage contact and I expressed my dissatisfaction with what was taking place. I am now into week 3 and the garage has taken the gearbox out again after replacing the cables that change the gears at the end of last week, it is still not fixed and i am driving around in a reliable Toyota Yaris. The good point is today for the first time I was contact first at the later end of the day to say that they had run out of ideas of what to do. On every other day I have had to phone for an update. So if you want a great car here it is, if it breaks you have seen the consequences. Luckily I have have a hire car provided through our fleet provider who have said Peugeot will pick up the bill you might not be so lucky. In May when my car is due to be replaced, my original thought of having a 208 has gone off the list along with the Citroen for the same reason. It looks like I will have to follow everyone else and either return to Toyota or go down the VAG route with one of their many offerings from across europe. I thought I had found the best car I had ever had only for the dream to turn into a nightmare. It took 2 months to get it back and not even a letter of apology, car returned with half empty tank told to take it away and fill it as it was when it came to them ( this had also been promised) Nothing but a returned car after 2 months and then with in 1000 miles noticed tyres were low on tread and needed replacing not reported to me on the return of the car. Glad I noticed as could have been a nasty accident or a serious fine if found with defective tyres. If this reflects Peugeot then we should all be very concerned.
