Practical well built, let down by poor performance and poor fuel economy

I bought this car in Oct 2015 used with 14,000 miles, and sold it a year later at 30,000 miles. It was a high spec and the build quality was first rate, Practicality with easy to adjust rear seats were a bonus.
Handling and fun factor were good and made the car enjoyable to drive across country. However with the automatic gearbox the performance was very poor, and the engine was unacceptably noisy. As a result of having to drive it hard, the fuel consumption was poor and the range limited. 40 mpg average over year. Insurance costs were bizarrely high, I changed the car for a much more expensive higher performance car and the premium only increased by £40.
There were no faults with the car and one service was completed in the time I had it. The dealer service was of a high quality.
