Quiet, comfortable and a joy to drive

This is our second ev. The first was a Tesla model x, which we got in 2017. Why the change? No new model x to 2023??
So to compare. It's so much quieter, better built, better materials, and above all, it works.

Acceleration and road holding is more than adequate. The Tesla jerked you when it took of, but the eqc seems somehow to glide up to 60 in about the same time. Its really a very comfortable car, and for the type of driving we do, is great. The Tesla suspension was kind of twitchy.

Range. Well our longest trip is about 160 miles, so it's fine. Theoretically the Tesla did 315 miles, but in reality did about 230. This is supposed to do 250 and does about 210.

Charging. Well nothing can beat the Tesla super charger set up, and it was a concern. We need to use it infrequently, but find that the ionity set up is a good substitute. With the Mercedes me charge card, you get a discount from 80p to 30p.

Speed of charging. It maxes out at 110kw as opposed to the 150 on the Tesla. However it actually does charge at that rate, as opposed to the Tesla which would do it for about five minutes before dropping down to about 80. So it takes about 20 min to get it from say 30% back uptown 80%. Just time for a coffee??

Sound system just fantastic good quality. In the Tesla with the wind noise, you nearly had to shout to be heard.

Navigation. Seems better, and gives you alternative routes if you wish, along with changing if it needs to.

Regeneration when slowing down. Much better. In the Tesla, any one in the back had a tendency to get car sick, but here it has about four options, the best being automatic, where it changes the rate dependent on road conditions.

Safety. I would say better. It has a heads up display which gives you all the pertinent info in front of you. Never did like looking away to the big screen. Allows it has switches, so no need to fiddle around on the screen.

Driver assistance. Well this was supposed to be the big Tesla thing, so was surprised to see that this works much better, with less beeping etc going on.

Downsides.. well the boott is smaller than the model x, but so far no real issues. It has no front boot, but it's worth opening the bonnet to see how big an electric engine is. The Tesla had a neat trick of closing the front door when you put your foot on the break. It was handy if your arms were full of stuff.

So owned it about three months, done 3000 miles in it, and would never go back to a Tesla again.
