Overall reliability

Great family car with huge space; big; thirsty, but no more than you should expect.

Have had this for coming up on 1 year 10k miles. It's been on a several long runs - annual 2 week camping trip, visiting in-laws 200+miles away, day trips to the coast - and lost of more local work. On a long trip, 34 mpg is relatively easy, local trips a lot less, especially if you're hammering out of junctions into rapid traffic, so the fuel calc across the entire 10k is showing as 28ish. Not sure how that matches other big SUVs of this size.

And it is big. When we go camping, there are two adults, two kids , 4 & 9 and all the kit that requires. The Sorento plus a medium sized top box takes it all and also four bikes on the tow hitch and behaves perfectly with plenty of power.

Inside, we regularly get five adults plus the kids and on one memorable occasion my wife had 6 other members of her WI (Ave age about 75), so there is plenty of space even in the final row, where the seats actually have foot space under the middle row.

With the final row of seats up, there is still storage in the boot area, about 14 inches deep, so you can carry bags and so on especially if you can stack them on top on each other.

Complaints:
Has proximity key, but does not lock when you walk away, so there is a tendency for it to get left unlocked on the drive.
Likewise, once started, moving out of range of the key does not stop the engine, just sounds a beep. We were lucky when my wife drove away without her keys and the key in my pocket had allowed it to start and leave that she only drove 7 miles for a school pickup and I was able to go get her when the car wouldn't start again as her key was at home - it could easily have been a longer trip where she wouldn't have stopped for two hours.
It's my first proximity key, so I'm not sure if these are common behaviours or if other manufacturers program their systems differently.

The KX4 is massively loaded with electronics - self parking, adaptive cruise and so on. I've got used to the ACC, but tbh prefer normal cruise control and have never used self parking. Although it's a big car the all round camera system with the top down view is more than sufficient for parking and in fact is brilliant. My biggest complaint in this area is that to get memory seats (with only two settings) you have to go for the KX 4 with the increase in price over the KX3.

I've had no problems apart from a blown fuse and I suspect the cause of that was an old DVD player. Haven't used it since and have no problems. Was diagnosed and replaced with no issue in the local dealer, despite it not being bought from them. Literally, drive in they looked at it and drove out.

Overall, I'm very pleased with it, but I'm still not absolutely convinced we couldn't have got something a bit smaller
