Buyer Beware!

I bought a fantastic looking X1 20d with 43,000 miles on the clock plus an extended 2 year warranty from a well known used car dealership. I used the BMW X1 for work for a few days. Then on the 10th day of ownership we drove up to north Northumberland, on the way home a message came up saying there is a transmission problem but to continue the journey. About 2 miles from home the automatic gearbox seemed to get stuck in 2nd gear, and we limped home at a slow speed. The car was taken to the nearest BMW dealer where it sat in their car park for a month before they could do a diagnostic. Eventually the diagnostic was done and the technician said it needed new transmission at a cost of nearly £12,000 ! I got a full refund, bought a Kia with the money, and wouldn’t buy another used BMW.
