BMW 2 Series Active Tourer (2014 - 2021)
218i M Sport
Nightmare
The good, decent enough diesel engine, good roomy cabin, decent quality interior, the M Sport wheels and BMW blue paint looks great.
The bad, the ride quality, okay on a smooth road on a test drive. Get it home around uneven roads and pot holes and it's dreadful. It just crashes over the slightest ridge.
M Sport + run flat tyres means you may as well have wooden wheels. Despite being super careful it cracked 2 alloys in 6 months, not cheap!
Nearly £600 later for 4 normal radial tyres, the ride got slightly better for it to then throw a drivetrain warning. MAF sensor warning, turbo fault codes amongst others. All this despite having 1 owner and full BMW service history.
Absolute bag of nightmares, lost a fortune on it. Got rid and bought a newer Octavia 1.5 TSI petrol - better ride, comfier seats, more responsive, more economical and just a more pleasant car to own. Stick to VAG group!
