Ford launches five-door Fiesta ST

Published 27 September 2016

Ford is taking its Fiesta ST and adding some extra doors at the back. So it means you can now get a five-door version of the sporty little hatchback if you so wish. If we were feeling all tabloid-y we'd write something like 'Fiesta ST gets in the family way'. But we won't.

It does mean it's a bit more practical though. And it is the first time there's been a five-door Fiesta ST. So now it will be a lot easier to hoover out all those Ginsters chicken and mushroom slice crumbs from the back. Priced from £19,495 for the ST-2 (there's no ST-1 version), it will go on sale in October.

It's essentially the same as the three-door with the 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine providing 182PS and a 0-62mph time of 6.9 seconds - identical to the three-door ST. Official fuel economy is down slightly at 46.3mpg, although Real MPG shows that owners are currently getting about 37.5mpg.

The five-door ST gets 17-inch alloy wheels, a bespoke grille, a rear diffuser and comes in five colour including Race Red and Spirit Blue. Inside there are recaro seats and unique ST detailing.

One model that won't be available as a five-door is the Fiesta ST200. The even more powerful version, which covers 0-62mph in 6.7 seconds, comes as a three-door only.
